I get it -- so don't put all your stock on the website. Keep some aside for the store. He used that as a reasoning and I just didn't see the rationale.
Clearly the "got to them" comment really got Steven steamed. Not sure why he took it so seriously; if he followed the entire conversation from earlier he would see where we were saying it was a great thing selling the two-pack. The speculation was all about why don't other retailers do things like that; and hopes that more might. In fact, I was promoting his store for doing it. Then I get singled out for a bad joke. Sheesh.
Hello Wor-Gar, I'm on a really tight schedule today, so I don't have a lot of time to continue posting on this thread, but I do feel that you are entitled to a reply.
First, to be clear, it was not my intention to single you out; just your comment. If you hadn't been the first to make the comment, it most likely would have been made by someone else. So, please understand, I have no problem with you personally. You were not being targeted.
Second, I believe you when you say your comment was intended as a joke. However, as with all things in the social media universe, where words on a screen are necessarily divorced from all other normal human social cues (voice, facial expression, body language, etc..), one cannot be sure that the words that are used will be interpreted the same by everyone. My concern about your comment, which was clearly an off-handed remark in passing, was that someone else might come along, someone who might not be familiar with the forum or know anything about Timewalker, and interpret your comment in quite another way. Therefore, I felt compelled to make clear, for everyone who might be reading the forum, exactly why we made changes to these product records.
Third, I am grateful for the sales on these items. There is certainly no complaint here. And, yes, technically, we do set product aside for sale in the store on a regular basis, but until we actually receive physical inventory there is no way in our system ( at least during the preorder period) to prevent customers from placing two or two hundred of a given item. We have to monitor presales on each product and physically mark an item as "wait list" or "preorder soldout" if online sales get too close to digging into storefront reserves. In this case, the Royal Guards were a bit of an anomaly. I don't think we've ever blown through our factory allocation in less than 24 hours. But, sure enough, when I got to work the next day I found that we already had to shut down the Grouping of Two, and I knew the single pack offering wasn't too far behind (it is now wait list). Also, our online sales did manage to absorb a few pieces of our storefront reserves before we moved to wait list online.
Anyway, I've got to move on with my day. I have a ton of business email that some of you have been patiently waiting for a reply these last couple of days. Alas, these are the perils of the Pre-Chinese New Year product rush.
Peace, Wor-Gar.
Sincerely, Steven Allen ~ Timewalker Toys
