They seem to have learned their lesson after flooding the market with TFA figures, RO troopers are sold out.

Agreed. These being OT and from what I've read, a lot of people will want these. The price point will probably be similar to the basic stormtrooper in RO so it should sell well.

I think HT will not bury the RO mold. All upcoming SW movies involving OT type Stormtroopers will be made with this new mold and not the OT mold (ANH, ESB, ROTJ). So be prepared to see these type troopers again in Han Solo movie, and maybe in Fett movie, and all other SW movies that have OT era Stormtroopers.

I don't know. Given the chance to make new toys (not just HT) they will. Somewhat up to the a star wars story group too.

I hope so, I really like this design.

I still like the OT Stormtroopers best. The Rogue One troopers look Disneyfied somehow. Too symmetrical, and those eny-tini bikini breast plates. Compare with the OT Stormtrooper and you'll see what I mean.

I'm not caught up with the lawsuit, but is it possible that they had to change the design of the Stormtroopers so that Disney could own that version?

Didn't the studio that actually crafted the Stormtrooper armor back in '77 lay claim to the design and started selling it on their own?

Oh yeah...nothing beats the original, but there are some positive aspects in the new version: they look stronger as an armor (especially the torso/belt area) and symmetry was made in some respectful way. Too bad I didn't liked RO as other fans did.

And they will be accurate, symmetry and all. OT era Stormies, on the other hand, will always be some idealized versions.

Personally I don't mind some idealization in 1/6 scale. As long as they don't mess up with the look. HT Stormies are okl, their Sandies even better. GG and Marmit made the best 1/6 scaled TK helmets so far.

Agreed. OT still looks best for me overall. A very organic natural look.

I don't think it has too much to do with Shepperton lawsuit. It has more to do with the modern times and high def cinematics of today, where it is unlikely you could go with the OT Stormie helmets with all those warps and dings.

Plus machines are alot better at making things nowadays compared to model makers who didn't really care much in ~1977 .

The more I learn about all the the imperfect nuances of the OT Stormtroopers, the more I prefer the perfect symmetry of the "Disney Stormtroopers". I like my TK's to look perfect since all their armor is supposed to come from an assembly line. I find no charm in wonky defects, bumpy molds, etc. found in the OT TK's.

I'm an OT Imperial collector and I collect props with all their faults, because I'm interested in replicas of what was made in production for OT movies, and not what they might look in the sci-fi universe. Symmetrical props are nice, but since there were none in OT, I don't really care about them.

Wait... was that just a civilized and, dare I say, cordial difference of opinion? On the internets!?! On the Freaks Forum?

I think it's probably not fair to say they didn't care. Especially if you look at many of the studio scale ships that were built. A lot of what it comes down to (outside of things like the small dent on the arm) is that this is how we remember them looking. Like Fett's ESB helmet is warped (stretched horizontally), but that's what looks right to most people as that's what showed up in the movie and what most other iterations were based off of.

I've been seeing jkno's awesome collection for years and know how passionate people like him are when it comes to screen accuracy. I'm also in the 501st so I know how intricate it is and respect the hell out of people with said opinion. I'd never knocked anyone for their opinion, but I can't speak for other people:lol

That's a whole other discussion. I was just strictly speaking on the guys back then who were mass producing TK armor, as opposed to being able to focus on a few ships or even fewer Fett helmets. Pretty sure there's docs out there with the guys admitting it was just a job for them and they didn't exactly have the utmost care, at the time.

Has anyone posted the Rebelscum pics from Celebration? This looks really good in their pics.
