Interesting news. Thanks Darth Alias and Jack. I remember Sideshow specifically stating that they were doing TFA--I can't remember where I read it though.

Nevertheless it's actually good news all around because we as consumers won't be forced to choose between companies. And Sideshow won't loose money because everyone would have ended up choosing Hot Toys!

I wonder if Sideshow will continue doing SW 1:6 at all!

I could see them only doing OT and characters HT won't do. I think maybe moving forward SS has to be cautious of stepping on HT toes and ask what characters they can do instead of it being the other way around like before. Very interesting how it's working out though. I don't know if HT will keep SS as a distributor of they go mainstream in the states. We'll see though. Interesting things coming none the less. This Disney deal with LFL has stir up a lot of companies and will change the industry a lot.

I don't think they ever announced that they would be doing stuff from TFA yet. I believe they just shared the announcement that Hot Toys would be producing figure and having Sideshow be their distrubtors, as always.

I'm sure they'll do some stuff from it down the road though.

Sandtrooper looks very nice. It also comes with that damn rifle that is the EX on the Chewie/Han two-pack and one of the Extras in the Stormtrooper two-pack. No need to get either two-pack now if you're doing it for the rifle.

Be funny. But if people have patience, that rifle will go for pretty cheap on ebay in a year or so, being that its going to be broken down from three different packages so far.

The movies will have to be pretty good for me to be tempted to go deep on TFA figures. Not thrilled by the stormtrooper but several of the character designs look bad ass. If SS focuses solely on OT, that's actually good for me too.

It's both from the movie and at the Star Wars Celebration stage thing. The new snowie doesn't seem to have as much of the chubby issue. The classic stormies were so slender with the oversize head.

Hot Toys Sandtrooper

I do like the overall look, but I keep seeing clips/pics where the new stormies look sort of "fat" - the chest barrel-shaped and with thunder thighs. It's both from the movie and at the Star Wars Celebration stage thing. The new snowie doesn't seem to have as much of the chubby issue. The classic stormies were so slender with the oversize head.

New snowie? The short trooper is the ultimate little fatty. I actually don't think it looks good in a neutral pose. Proportionally I think the tall one would look better as the short one, there's no abs on the short one, a bit too extreme.

If these are $175 US in China, why do they cost so much more in the USA? Doesn't Sideshow get them for distributer price in the first place? Are they getting them for say $100 then adding the $25 for being the distributer and then another $50 just for the heck of it and then another $50 for also serving as a direct retailer?

I don't mean to criticize them or anything I'm just wondering if that is what's happening and if it costs less to order from China.

I have the 4 sideshow sandies, and I would love to switch over to hot toys sandies... but I wont make the switch unless I get the whole squad, not just squad leader


What do you guys think?

I could always swap the existing sideshow pauldrons over to HT sandies, but the dirt patterns wont be unique or consistent with the character portrayed.
