If these are $175 US in China, why do they cost so much more in the USA? Doesn't Sideshow get them for distributer price in the first place? Are they getting them for say $100 then adding the $25 for being the distributer and then another $50 just for the heck of it and then another $50 for also serving as a direct retailer?

I don't mean to criticize them or anything I'm just wondering if that is what's happening and if it costs less to order from China.

Well they do need to be shipped both to SS in California and then to all of the places sideshow distributes to in the states and internationally. Not that I'm justifying the specific amount of the mark up.

I have the 4 sideshow sandies, and I would love to switch over to hot toys sandies... but I wont make the switch unless I get the whole squad, not just squad leader


What do you guys think?

I could always swap the existing sideshow pauldrons over to HT sandies, but the dirt patterns wont be unique or consistent with the character portrayed.

yo, I'm not going to have both versions of sandies. You have to feel my feels. I love sandtroopers. I guess I could trade/sell away my 4 and be left with the 1 HT, but it's so nice having the squad.

Given that half the new reveals have been on this stormtrooper sculpt so far, I think we can safely assume there'll be more sand troopers.

Tell that to my wife lol. I have 4 detolfs and that's all I get. Which is great. But I've been collecting since 2006 so each shelf is carefully planned. She's already yelling at me about the TaunTaun which sits OUTSIDE the detolf because it can't fit in it. hahaha. She doesn't even know about the speederbike on it's way... so enjoy my posts while they last. I'll be dead soon

Yeah it would only make sense. But who knows... maybe it works against us, they decide to switch gears and leave it as a backburner project. Ah the joy and terror of collecting.

I was just asking my brother in law who works in the tool industry and he said it's strange to have a distributer also selling direct to the consumer.

And it makes sense to make lots of troopers because he made an example of a manufacturer creating a hammer for $8 each including all R&D and then selling to the distributer for $15 who then sells it to the retailer for $20 who then sells it for $30.

And if they take that hammer and put a new grip on it and change the color, they are creating a hammer for $6.50 each (way less R&D) and still selling it to the distributer for $15.

The detail on this is amazing. You can see the screws on the side of his helmet and even the little rivet on that band around his knee!

I can't wait to throw that special edition droid in the garbage!
