HT kill all their troopers.

dead_stormtroopers_by_yellowplasma-d74yv4x.jpg

They look like the cream of HT figures. I like the fit of the armour, and how the body just seems to take a natural lifelike pose.

Death Star blew it's load!!!

the guns are just amazing, with lots of movable parts, details and whethering.
way better than that comes with the FO stormtrooper!

The OSR-linked photo-set shows a circular grime spot on the orange pauldron. That's a tell from the screen-used costume where a sticker was removed from the BMX chest shields or whatever that were used for the pauldrons.

Didn't expect that level of detail, unless that's 'shopped in...

I was worried it was a sewn-in detail denoting a magnet or other insert that might have been used to glue-down the pauldron. Phew. Not a fan of replicating movie mistakes like this on figures though if it's a mark from the prop source.

You can see the sandie/stormie helmet differences more in this pic. Notice the "chin" (between teeth and chin grill) vertical distance - too much on stormie, corrected on sandie. "Jowls" less. Distance between teeth and goggles. Either tweaked or new sculpt.

the left stormy looks more similar to the rebels version when put beside the sandtrooper.

Hope this don't sell out before bobba fett release. so I can get a 2nd one

I would rather they got the last 5% on the helmet correct instead of replicating prop errors, but A for effort, anyway.

I have a Shadow Trooper pauldron which I'll use for a bash at some point; two problems with HT pauldrons:

- Too stiff. I cut into it and removed the unnecessary foam insert.
- Material is wrong, too glossy. That can be remedied.

The only problem with the pauldron is that it's completely wrong. It can probably be remedied by a replacement, but that's about it. :)

HT seem to believe that the pauldron was some kind of shoulder-pad, when primarily it should be visible from the FRONT of the character, not above.

LOL...well if we really want to get into it, the HT pauldrons need to have the foam insert removed, the elastic strap cut away (this was to hold it in place, something the real ones don't have) and the material needs to be painted over in an accurate matte colour.

May help to distress and mold it a bit prior to painting.

Man HT is really pumping figures out at a RAPID rate!

Not complaining as I only ordered a few, but feel bad for those completest out there! Excited for this figure just in time for Christmas!

Outside of considerable disposable income, I can't imagine how that can be easy. Even a short-list of these releases adds up quickly, and I'm not even going near TFA at this point.

On yet another inspection I had thought maybe it was an optical illusion, but the "chin" distance you point out is apparent. I think that's what's changed if anything. The lateral tubes appear to be the same size, just look reduced relative to other changed features. Which is to say they're still too big, but the helmet is indeed closer.

Not sure how it was done with the real screen-used helmets, but do you think reducing the front section was precisely how they achieved the longer frown, rather than a tweak for improvements? By having the bottom be a separate piece they can extend the frown or reduce it depending on how high that front section goes. Curious what a disassembled regular stormtrooper helmet looks like now.

I actually disassembled one. This is what's throwing me. The frown is attached to the "face" above the "muzzle" ... i.e. the piece separates beneath the frown, not above it. So unless my memory completely sucks, it has nothing to do with changing the frown, it's the "face plate" that was changed.

The individial helmet parts are:

- Face plate/front.
- Back
- Dome
- Brow trim
- Lenses
- Nozzles
- Muzzle
- Ear-pieces

(At least I'm pretty sure the front and back are separate.)

So I don't get why they would tweak the distance from the top of the "vocoder" but leave the lateral tubes slightly over-sized as they are.

I have a photo of the disassembled helmet somewhere on a back-up drive, I'll try to find it.

I'm with you 100%.

I have Han/ Chewie, and Obiwan....hell that is is close to a grand right there. On order this figure, the First Order Squad Leader, and First order Snowtrooper Officer.

I just hope when the movie releases that HT will slow it down a little for people to save up. Really only interested in some other OT figures, and just hope they are spaced apart a bit. I enjoy the wait, no rush needed for me.

****!!! As beautiful as all these little HT masterpieces are they just don’t translate to being worth $300 plus Canadian for me. If I am going to spend that much it has to be for very unique pieces (i.e.. Chewbacca) or others I feel I need in my collection (i.e.. Battle Damaged Robocop). Very short list of figures I would pay over $300 for. Can’t pull the trigger on “nice to have” anymore. And that suck's.......for me!!!

This is what you get if you buy a copy of a screen used prop:

So that's how the original helmets were made.

Or did I misunderstand what you meant?
