Agreed. I think this will be one of those cases that neither version really outdoes the other, it’s just a matter of personal preference, specifically Hoth look or Dagobah look. Some gripes aside with the SSC figure (which every figure has), I think it’s a very good effort by SSC.

ANH X-wing Luke is all Death Star trench battle and not much else (eg, no lightsaber). Great figure and hugely pivotal moment, but it is restricted to that film.

Anything ESB starts to encompass what Luke was and will be (within the OT), all outfits have both the blaster and lightsaber. It also means from a practical sense that he's all decked out. On the shelf both are eye catchers, the ANH trench scene wins on emotional beats while the Hoth battle wins on pure Star Wars fun.

Most iconic outfit from ESB is a bit tough too, I think the Bespin outfit is kinda boring (but it's the outfit he battles Vader in and yadda yadda), and Hoth is cool but a pretty brief scene in the end. So the Snowspeeder Luke could be a bridge in terms of figures on the shelf, if you're trying to avoid multiples from each film.

You could cheat it since Ralph McQuarrie painted Luke dueling Vader in the orange suit. :lecture

Well if you can truly afford only ONE Luke then yeah as much as it pains me to just choose one from his 3 OT films I would go with thicc hoth just because it is his coolest costume in the entire trilogy followed by ANH XWing then Farmboy then ROTJ Vader battle then ROTJ cloak then Endor then Trooper then Bespin then Dagobah training then Holiday special lol

But the good news is that everyone can afford at least 2 HT in their adult years so buy both!

Ralph McQuarrie also painted Luke confronting Jabba in the orange suit, so maybe it's triple-dip time.:dunno

He only has the blaster/holster on Dagobah (never on Hoth) in the ESB orange suit but it's an easy cheat.

Too much orange!

There can never be too much orange. Especially when ANH and even ESB displays can get a bit monochromatic. Stuff like R5, the orange suits and red Royal Guards really bring displays to life.

I'm talking about each basic outfit having both in ESB at some point where it's fudgeable. He doesn't have the blaster on the Hoth/taun taun outfit? That's more what I meant there.

And look at his boots getting into the Snowspeeder...

Seems like continuity was the very last thing on anyone's mind. :panic:

The Dagobah landing boots look like a cross between those pairs, based on the strap colour and position.

He must have a bigger collection of footwear than his sister.

At least this comes with the harpoon. I'm considering the 1/6 snowspeeder so I would need 2 of these, 1 for Dak.

Then it goes from hugely poofy as he exits the speeder (Norway) to boots so skinny the straps are almost falling down as he's cutting the ATAT belly (studio shots.)

And it alternates - poofy as he exits crashed speeder, skinny as he jumps to avoid the ATAT foot, poofy again as he runs under the ATAT, skinny again after he's up to the ATAT belly.

It's the same on Dagobah - he has the dusty white spats on the nose of the crashed x-wing, then a grey pair with white straps that are wet on the shoreline. It's the same when he departs.

As I've mentioned there are 4-5 distinct types. The main types are the fat/thin versions of what people call the "Hoth boots" (beige shoes with grey spats and white straps,) then the dusty white, greenish-taupe and grey/white strap versions of what people call the "Bespin boots."

Keep this up and we will be at TDK Joker socks level of infatuation faster than you can say Incest Skywalker.

Excellent. I''ll take 4 to be safe. :lecture

But seriously -- I don't recall the Jabba image... ***immediately goes down a Ralph McQuarrie rabbithole***
