From what he pics I've seen the only things that can be changed would be:

1) lens shape....the bottom curve needs to be slightly deeper. As is, it looks more like Battlefront than the costume. It's an idealized version as the costume has slightly different lens shape from left to right eyes

2) shorten the face cowl. There should be a gap from the bottom of the cowl to the top curvature of the chest armor

3) ESB style resin blaster. Snowtroopers user resin stunt blisters with a different scope, no Hengstler counter and grew lies to the back of the weapon. The figure is currently holding an ANH Stormtrooper blaster.

Even if they don't make the changes its a great figure. I wouldn't snap on the Sideshow Snowtroopers either. It was great for its price and almost 4 years old. The clothing and armor fit is great. It just needed a re sculpt of the lens and body swap.

:exactly:

It's nice to see a reasonable post that deals with both figures faults, SS and HT, fairly.

If necessary, that can be easily customized, by taking off the Hengstler and cylinders. The scopes on the HT E-11 blasters are not accurate to ANH nor ESB, so you'd only need the back greeblies to be it more ESB.

Great looking figure, very tempting. Like others have said, too bad we will probably have to wait a long time to order.

This cylinders shouldn't be there no. If you're putting greeblies on then maybe the other changes should be considered as there are a fair few . Without greeblies and cylinders would also be correct as they used two different blasters for filming ..so that would be the easier option .

This just blows the Sideshow one out of the water. Just getting the eyes and cowl right makes a huge difference. I passed on the regular Stormie, but this one might be too good to pass up.

The snowie eye slits were hand finished so varied in width a bit (you can see the variation onscreen.) From memory there is one that has narrower eyes like the HT one has - they may have used that as ref.

I think there's only one that didn't get repurposed for ROTJ so it's the same one at every show.

Most of the reference looks like it came from Sideshow's Snow Trooper. If someone confirmed that what HT showed at SDCC was a re-worked SSC trooper, I wouldn't be the least surprised.

I think he looks really cool in person. I missed the SSC one and I am not sad about it now. I just have so much black and white already and there are so many things coming out from SW and other properties that I am not sure I will pull the trigger.

Yea I'm with you there. It's like when sometime pointed out how 'off' the QS Boba's helmet is...

It took me years to discover that ROTJ Boba was different than the ESB version...
So to me, even the Sideshow version of the Snowtrooper is OK.
I might just find a new head if its that good.

Compared to the posted pics there are too many differences to be based on the Sideshow Snowtrooper.

1) the helmet has less flared sides, and a point at the brow like the costume
2) the googles are more pointed and we all see the different lens shape
3) the chest armor is narrower with bolt head details for the buckles
4) the belt buckle is more square in shape
5) the forearm armor tapers at the wrist
6) smaller hands and hand armor
7) different boot sculpts that are narrower at the ankles
and boots are different from Sideshows

The differences are hard to spot but they are here. But that just shows you the Sideshow Snowtrooper is one of their better efforts, but out of the box with the exception of the tweaks I've mentioned in a earlier post, the Hot Toys figure is quite nice and accurate.

I'm almost afraid to look too closely at it. I think I'll stick to my ignorance on it. :lol

I would have to agree, normally I would my sell my SS figures in a heartbeat and get the HT version. This time I'm not so sure. SS did do a decent job on this one. Dare I say that the weathering looks better on the SS version for now?

The differences already pointed out are pretty obvious to me.

The SSC displayed well with a mask mod and body swap, but the HT is demonstrably superior.

They did a better job on this than with their ANH stormies.

Will you be replacing your squad with a Hot Toys Snowtrooper? I want to get this Hot Toys figure but I'm very satisfied with my modified Sideshow Snowtrooper.

I actually sold my squad a couple years ago. ;)

But I would have upgraded.

I enjoyed the SSCs, but the proportions being what they are, were one factor in my moving on from them.

I'm as obsessed with editing my collection regularly as some people are with accumulating large collections; so I may not be representative.
