Yes HT can also shoot themselves in the foot by showing several variants like the Shoretrooper.

People like myself were waiting for the Squad Leader, then if not many people order the first version there "appears" to be no interest then they decide not to
make any of the other variants. Bad strategy HT !!

Bad strategy no doubt, but also kind of a sound decision they made when thousands of dollars are on the line plus the outcome of over produced TFA troopers. I actually lucked out and found one at 10% Off retail (sale at the time) at a LCS after they were sold out and all the scalpers doubled their prices. Still not a huge fan of the bold blue markings but the figure and design are great. Just checked and they’re going for ridiculous prices now. SMH.

So everyone should PO this so we can get the other troopers! 😝

Solo used a lot of the same props form Rogue One, and even the same costume designer.

We saw RO Stormtroopers using the same armor in the movie at the spaceport.

I’m reasonably sure the Mimban Stormtroopers are RO Troopers with a cape and the blast shield on the forehead.

There’s a picture of the Black Series 6” Mimban Trooper up there for reference, but that doesn’t count since Hasbro is just reusing their one and only 6” Stormtrooper mold which was based off their OT Sandtrooper. They did not make RO Stormtroopers.

Any other perceived visible differences with the Mimban Stormie might be down to the mud and battle damage. It’s make the most sense to just take the existing armor and add mud for the scenes.

The second picture makes the armor look identical to the RO comparison photo.

:(

Well, there goes my interest in the Mimban trooper.:lol

I think maybe it was my memory of that Hasbro 6" effort (surprising they never did a RO variation to the stormie, though even HT's version couldn't capture the differences very well) that distorted what I thought I saw - reverse engineering an OT trooper where there was only a RO style new trooper.

What you are saying makes 100% sense though. Doubt they'd make a new OT era armor suit when the RO versions were available in the warehouse. Oh well.

I wouldn't want a RO Stormtrooper armoured Mimban either.

RO armour looks silly with the little perky titties.

I know we're not supposed to take these things seriously, but what's the point of a cape in a swamp? Isn't it just going to get wet, muddy and heavy, ultimately becoming a nuisance?

I could understand it for shore troopers, because they could take them off and use them as beach towels.

I thought it was more like a rain poncho than a cape (even though it says cape in the specs). The photo of the back looks like it has a hood.

Officially, it’s a waterproof cape so like you said, almost like a rain poncho. There is a hood, so it’s more of a cloak to me, but they call it a cape. It’s meant to keep mud and rain from getting into the armor gaps. I imagine it also helps with warmth and camouflage.

And for standing around dramatically as it gently sways behind you in the wind.

If they make it, perhaps you might reconsider if they actually reveal it. The mud and damage over the armor might mask the RO design a bit for folks that don’t like it, and the helmet with the shield over the forehead is a very cool look.

Well there goes my “draping” plans for applying a water treatment.
Damn you HT! ;)

In all seriousness I hope that’s a functioning hood. Would definitely like the hooded mudtrooper option for display.

As Disney era trooper designs go, this is by far my favourite.

It looks like it's elasticated. So if it worked it would resemble an anorak hood, rather than drape in traditional Star Wars style.

Don't know how anyone could not like this design... with the TIE tubes sticking out, Kylo goggles and Gen. Veers helmet and everything.

If you have Stormtrooper Han, then you need Mudtrooper Han.

This is very WWIIish looking. With the hood up he could look really awesome. A small tube of black elastic fabric can fix the neck if they never release a normal one either.

Will probably do lik I did with the Han Stormtrooper, buy it and sell the headsculpt and display like a normal Trooper.

Yeah cannot stop seeing the exposed neck on the Solo version which is not there on the regular in the pictures with no HS.

With the mask on you could use any old sculpt just to support the helmet. Even if you have to carve it to fit.

That's what I plan to do. That way the Solo sculpt can be used for bashing something else.

Yeah, the thing that was nostalgic about the Mimban "shield" helmet for me is it reminded me of a trooper I designed as a kid back in the OT days that combined the Death Star Trooper helmet and a sort of ATAT driver/stormie mash-up helmet. This is a fig I made of that design...

Would love to have a Mimban trooper next to him.

Terex did something very similar with his armor in the Poe Dameron comic. I always thought it looked pretty cool.

That's cool - a bit samurai like that Joe Johnston Snowtrooper concept design.

That reminds me - the red Samurai-ish Mandalorian armor in Vos' room would be a nice figure. I thought it was one of Vos' guards when I first saw it (like Fett in alternate armor or something,) but then it didn't move. :lol

That’s a pretty cool design kid you came up with. Considering Stormtrooper armor doesn’t seem to do much against blaster bolts, I’d probably want two layers on my head too.

Also reminds me of Bandai’s Meisho line. If they ever make a Movie Realizations TIE Pilot it AT-AT Driver, it’d probably be almost the same as your creation.

As a kid my design was supposed to be an Imperial Troop Transporter pilot (or "ITT" as I named it in the comic strip I designed it for - I loved the term ATATs.) What's weird is that I ran into a childhood friend about eight years ago (who I hadn't seen since the just post-OT days) and he says "I have something you did here..." and he pulls out the comic I drew that had the ITT pilot on the first page which I obviously gave him back in the day.

It inspired me to do the custom figure a few years later - when I put it together I wanted to change him an all-black trooper like a TIE Pilot because I thought it'd look cooler but I decided to keep it exactly the way I drew it as a kid with the white stormie helmet/armor and black DST helmet over it.

The armor in Vos' room in Solo was clearly inspired by the Bandai Meisho line with its "samurai fett" look. Be cool if Gentle Giant did it as a bust so you could place it behind the HT Solo figure.

I am pretty bummed that Solo hasn't just opened quite low, it's now collapsing at the BO. Means the likelihood of a Mimban trooper is much less now than it was last week.:(

That’s a great story. Every kid that played with Star Wars toys can certainly relate. :D I certainly can. I remember drawing little comics and designing things as well.

I agree. I liked Solo a lot and wish it were performing better. Really want all the troopers from this movie.

But Hot Toys might surprise us. I was shocked when I saw the Hantrooper because I genuinely felt the regular Han might be it.

We might see more. They were undoubtedly working on a number of figures for some time now and I think they’ll release the ones they think would sell. And the ones Howard likes.

So I’m not ready to write off the Mimban Stormtrooper yet. Plus it’s an easy figure for them. They have the RO Stormie already. Just add mud, the cape, and the helmet shield. Done.
