I'm not 100% sold on the mystic arts aspect of this movie because I was hoping Spidey would get to have his own show without a new mentor figure, but we'll see how it goes! I like the black and gold look, but the red feels a little out of place.

To me, it looks like this is actually supposed to be the underlying “circuit board” of the upgraded suit. Easy pass tho.

I kinda like the look. In Far From Home he had several costume and the black one was kept for just a few scenes. It might be the same for that one with the final costume he'll sport will be more blue and red.
I also like that these pics are a bit spoilery when we see those magical webs being shot !

Edit : It feels like there's some Wakandan and Sorcerer Supreme style to it

Part of films like these is great design. They're visual spectacles. If Marvel Studios thinks they're going to get my money by staffing the art department with first grade art class students, they can go f*** themselves.

I thought the whole point of FFH was Spidey finally coming into his own...and now it's confirmed Dr. Strange is serving as some kind of "mentor" figure. Why? And this is coming from someone who liked the Iron Man/Spidey dynamic.

I get as the MCU gets bigger you can't just pretend other characters don't exist, but is this constant mentorship needed?

Comics did just fine being int heir own bubbles aside from the odd crossover. This is just nonsense because the more you put out gimmicks the less of a coherent story you have to come up with. Just throw stuff at the wall and see everyone go “wow” on “ebin” moments and “references”. This isn’t Spider-Man. I defended the CW version back in the day, but I just can’t anymore.

Both this and the “integrated suit” look awful, if the story in this movie isn’t great then I’m probably done with the MCU because I wasn’t looking forward to much apart from this movie.

From a narrative / character arc standpoint I'm not going to **** my knickers until I've seen Magic Spidey on-screen and I know what the context is.

But from a purely aesthetic angle, it looks absolutely rubbish in 1/6.

It's corporate overkill as usual. They do something cool that makes a lot of money. The next step is to beat it to death and drain it of all coolness for the next damn decade.

I just want a friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, the Insomniac games have this but still with big enough stakes to feel important.

For my money, I think the MCU was ultimately a bad thing. With the X-Men coming in, this late to the game, and with such a huge cast of their own, I’m feeling drained. I unironically would prefer a Webb-Verse than whatever this “Spider”-“Man” is. Crossovers are cool when they make sense or when they’re little nods. Everything else is gimmicky nonsense that destroys the story.
