Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

We already have HT Star Wars figures. Take a look at the bottom of the Stormtrooper box.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

Yeh, I did not intend for that.

Although, to me, I imagine that a HT Solo would be worth the extra and better than the SSC Han.

Han Solo, Luke, Leia, Vader - no problem.

But how many people are going to spend $150-200 a piece for Ki Adi Mundi or Ayla Secura?

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

I like my Sideshow SW figures, they're really nice. And the ones I got are still half the price of the Hot Toys figures.

Hot Toys would do great with the more complex figures without getting out of control with price, but I'm still pretty satisfied with my Sideshow Figures.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

If they did do SW figures, I couldn't really see them going too far beyond the core characters.

I don't know who those characters are? Are they from I, II or III or something?

For a small line release with the characters you mentioned above, HT would be fine for me.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

Its not bashing by any stretch of the word...thats reserved for Medicom...FACT. Besides if SS's issues wiv sculpts and paint apps plus Medi's figure size and pricing policy wasn't continually called into question, we wouldn't have this regular debate...:monkey1
Personally i'm torn on the issue...yeah we all want the ultimate 1/6 SW figures, but wiv such a vast character roster per film, i'd be broke n' homeless wiv a ^^^^ load of SW dolls!

All I've seen lately are people showing naked sculpts and proving it was the paints that had issues. As far as sculpts go, when looking at HotToys John Travolta or even their Ed Norton, they're not exactly "perfect." :lol

I want the best of both worlds. I'd like Sideshow to continue the line and make improvements on what they do and team up with Hot Toys to make figures like General Grievous possible.

While not a bad figure by any means, I think Hasbro's Grievous is the best we'll get... :(

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

HT Han would not be $70 or 2x better than the SSC Han Solo.

You're right.

It would be about $140 and 5x better!

probably.

Anyways it would be my dream for them to get it. Plus the possibility of 1/6 speederbikes, STAPS, etc. etc.:drool:drool:drool

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

I do.

Plus much better and accurate tailoring. Attention to detail baby. I really hope they get a stab at it.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

With Trevor Grove, Tim Miller, and Oluf, Sideshow can go at least head to head with Hot Toys in terms of head sculpts. And while tailoring is generally better with Hot Toys, it is not that much better. For instance, the Hot Toys Joker suit still leaves a lot to be desired, even in the DX edition.

Quoted for Truth... :lecture:lecture:lecture

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

In an interview Hot Toys said that Star Wars is their most wanted license to create figures from, but I don't think it will happen while Sideshow is making figures. Like Evilface said we can probably expect some collaboration with Hot Toys on the droids and Chewie though.

This idea of collaboration is the most likely thing we will see from hot toys in terms of star wars 1/6th. there is a reason for that, and I'll explane what it is in a minute.

Bust most star wars fans would disagree with you, and demand more, thet's one of the main reasons it's better in the hands of sideshow. we will see sideshow do characters medicom, and Hot toys would not try.

And speaking of medicom.,.....

it will happen.

No, it likely never will, unless MEDICOM gives up its star wars license. Hot toys would need to get the Asian market license, which WAS held by Takara/Tomy, then passed to Medicom. Sideshow already carries the medicom starwars figures, and if the torch was passed to hot toys, they would carries those instead. And since medicom are already IN the hot toys price range, we would likely see very little imcrease in our asian market star wars 1/6th figures price.

They've been slipping lately in those categories. Anyone who owns an Indy or a Joker can attest to this.

But if they took over Medi's license, we'd see a definite improvement in quality, scale, and attention to realism in the Asian license.

Though, as stated to death in all the other "do you wish HT would take over" forums, and as also mentioned by Dave, HotToys would likely only do a superficial pass at the license.

I bet most people hyping a supposed HT SW line probably have no interest in buying more than 4 figures a year and will stop buying after about 8 figures, simply due to the ridiculous prices.

SW is a lot deeper than that.

Maybe SSC can't meet quality demands of a select few ubercollectors, but I don't think HT can meet the demand of the majorirty of SW collectors that demand a deep line at an affordable price.

I really think people spearheading these threads have only a passing interest in SW and HT would reflect that with a 10 figures in 4 years type of line.

Hot Toys' Travolta, Norton, Phoenix....all unofficial, unlicensed facesculpts and paints which is why a lot of them bear a passing resemblance at best. You really need to judge them on the ones where they have the license to do the actor/actress some justice.

HT Star Wars would be great but even they have their issues. HT isn't exactly the best at giving proper scales so for the human characters they'd be about the same size.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

Sideshow is better for this line. Sadly the figures are crap, but Sideshow is able to be successful with the figures being (for the most part) under $100 and releasing numerous characters, the known and the unknown ones.

If HT was to make SW figures, they would have to stick to the main characters and only release a few a year with their minimum $150 price tag.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

In reality they wouldn't be $150. They'd be higher. LFL is a ^^^^^ and a half when it comes to licensing fees and continously want more, we'd be looking at real close to $200 on HT SW figures.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

why do we need a new thread about this everyday? just let SS keep doing what they are doing. i dont wanna pay $200 for action figures.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

I think Sideshow is doing a great job, their sculptors are top notch. Aside from some quality controll and paint apps. issues, I think the licsence is in good hands. I just could'nt bear to collect SW at HT prices. Although I admit HT's work is Outstanding, the affordable quality you get with Sideshow is what makes the line so sucessful.

Does that even apply in Asia? I know if they're marketing products to the U.S. it does, but with all the license ripoffs and copycats being produced in Hong Kong, China, Thailand, etc.... hell, even Japan (notorious for not respecting licenses and copyrights), I'm not sure I can buy that.

I guess they need to justify the bankroll they keep paying to HT by constantly promoting the company? :huh :p The funny thing is, we've already seen with CloneObi. HT would've charged near (if not over) $200 for that figure and potentially the only thing separating the two companies with a release like that is the body.

It's either that or find another means to continually bash Sideshow. That seems to be a consistent topic in the "Do you wish HotToys would take over..." threads.
