Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

Well people like me!!

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

LOL. And HT would be biting off more than they can chew as well. Think you'd ever get a Lando with HT? How about a Qui-Gon? How about 3 different Obi-Wans? Kit Fisto is a cool figure, would HT make him? No.
Not the same. With Hot Toys, their lack of certain characters is a result of CHOICE, not lack of ability. They have already proven they can make pretty much anything at this scale should they choose. Sideshow? It took them THREE YEARS to produce the most iconic character in this license (Vader) and we're still nowhere near them being able to do something like Chewie or the droids the way HT could right now.

Perfect thing would be more partnership items on the figures SSC can't make.
I do not disagree with this at all. And it's probably the best scenario for everyone. I think Sideshow should just bite the bullet and have Hot Toys completely design and engineer figures like Chewbacca, Yoda and R2-D2.

And that's my point. There are figures that Sideshow can't make right now. 3+ years into the license. This is ridiculous, imho.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

I'm not disagreeing about HT ability. You certainly (over)pay for it, so they better have it.

Whether you "overpay" for it or not is just subjective opinion... that they have the ability to make the figures right now that Sideshow doesn't is NOT. :lecture

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

At this point (I know this will sound backwards in this thread) I want SSC to focus on what SSC does and nothing more. I don't want them engineer a Chewie or Droids or anything else for that matter until we get the stuff we are getting done correctly. Recently on both 1/6 and PF we are getting really shoddy paint apps, we've seen that their factories CAN produce home runs, the ability is there, we are seeing pieces missing from PFs for example and those are just the two issues at the top of my head.

I want them to produce the best items they can regardless of HT involvement or not. Seeing Slave Leia's paint apps is a crime. Seeing other license's figures done like that is really unfortunate and they can't really say the whole mass produced thing because we do have shining stars in the line.

Would HT do good? Of course, but I'm more concerned with SSC upping their QC then trying to outdo HT at this point.

I don't think it's an issue of "can't make" per say, but more one of wanting to make it right. The Stormtroopers exemplified this. Vader's armor isn't much different (piece-wise) than Boushh. Same with Boba Fett. I would like to see neither until they're done right vs. some rushed version which forces you to repeat another Utapau crusade for figures that could've been done better if given more time. That said, I'd hate to have to juggle development time between those and the consistent release schedule they're probably required to have.

Look how long it took HotToys to make the first Predator. How old is the license?

True. :lol But it doesn't matter to me how talented they are if I can't justify their prices to begin with so my subjective opinion on that is the only one that matters when its my wallet doing the voting.

Hey. I'm out, but this was a fun argument for the day!

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

If SSC had the TDK license, we may not have a definitive Joker figure yet... but we'd sure have 2-3 random cop guys. :lol

:rotfl That's probably true. I'd rather have Hot Toys pumping out 2-3 versions of main characters instead:monkey1

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

Sideshow would probably release all clowns from the bank robbery scene ( and the masks would not be removable ) :rotfl

Massive increase for this thread today-- and most of the conversation civil.

Please keep it going--- Cheers.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

I would love to see HT make Star Wars. But I think that SS has done a pretty solid job on most characters and I think a lot of collectors are going to spend the money to get a figure twice. I will go on record as saying that someone needs to make a good 1/6 Han and Leia. And I think HT Hoth Characters would be amazing.

I want a 1/6 Wampa!!

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

Come to think of it now, i don't think Hot Toys could fit this line in and at the same time keep up with other lines, unless they had more sculptors on board.

Sculptors aren't an issue, the only issue there would be if HT had to go through the same approval crap Sideshow has to. As far as time to sculpt, Yulli said in an interview that on averae she can roll one out in 2 weeks.

What kind of approval does SS have to go through?

Lucasfilm has to bless every sculpt and if they demand changes, Sideshow has to do it or they won't get approval.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

Apparently not much, considering figures like Utapau get passed right through.

Really, I had no idea. I thought that having the license meant they were free to just crank out figures. Why wouldn't HT have to go through the same process with Lucas Arts?

Well, I imagine it may be part of contracts, etc. Medicom doesn't seem to be held to the same process, I don't know if that's because they're pieces are meant to be stylistic, if they're meant to have accurracy, it doesn't seem like they have to go through the same processes for approval.

They do. But there are different 3rd Party licensing reps who handle that stuff for LFL in some of the foreign markets.
