Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

Uh.... sales wouldn't exist without demand. That's plain business 101. :lol Additionally, I don't see HotToys miraculously producing considerably more product than they have been previously. They're still releasing pretty much the same amount, if not just a fraction more, each year.

A) way to try to be witty about 50% of my point, B) I'm not talking numbers of figures when I say lots can happen in a few years, but new licenses come up. When people wanted HB or Apes, they may have wanted Predator even more, well all 3 come at once, they can't afford it all, so something's got to give.

Bottom line is, if someone starts voicing they want something say in 2006, and it doesn't come until 2008/9, a lot of things can change in that timespan where the end result isn't the same as it would have been if the demand was met when it originated.

Back in 2006 I remember a lot of SSC fans freaking that SW would be the end of SSC's other lines. In some respects that came true.

I wonder if the same would happen to HT.

What? Sorry Sean you completely lost me. :duh

And? They're still bailing on the line they begged for. :huh

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

I'm not sure how long SSC's license with Hasbro lasts, but doesn't Hasbro have the SW license until 2018 or something?

So perhaps after that.

But IMO, the best of both worlds would be as a poster above suggested and HT and SSC collaborate on characters such as Grevious or Chewbacca and on vehicles.

Yeah, I remember reading Hasbro had the licence for a long time yet, but in Asia, as far as I know Tomy still have the licence (hence colaborations with Marmit and Medicom), so I guess this might be the avenue, either work with Tomy or wait till their licence is up.

It would also be cool to see a colaboration with SS but as much as I respect the SS SW 1/6 figures, the jump in production quality might make the other figures standing alongside need an upgrade as well.

If HT do get the licence, I'd hope for a film by film production of the main players, secondary characters as well to a degree, but I think the price would make your 'Prajis' a bit unlikely.

Why would it? Hot Toys isn't as lazy and is fearless when it comes to 1:6.

Fearless in their design department, but they don't take risks on character choices. Where are we now, Joker #7? No Gordon or Ras. Where is Barbosa (would that even be a risk)?

Their fearlessnes has nothing to do with it.

50% of that post is right :lol. I don't think they'd do more than skim the surface and stick with the A-Listers of each film as far as characters go.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

You'd be a fool to believe HT would pick up Star Wars and the rest of the lines not suffer....shooot the longevity of their lines suffer when they pick up lines like Godfather and thats 1 figure!:lol

Heh. Neither company has a great reputation for picking characters and completing their lines.

And as repetitive and predictable as Hot Toys' character choices usually are, I would almost take that over Sideshow's head-scratching and arbitrary process. It almost seems as if they literally do the dartboard thing sometimes. If SSC had the TDK license, we may not have a definitive Joker figure yet... but we'd sure have 2-3 random cop guys. :lol

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

Having an incomplete line after 10 or 20 figures is a little different than after 4 or 6. And usually its only after the license has stopped selling. When did POTC ever give a reason for stopping?

Having an incomplete line after 10 or 20 figures is a little different than after 4 or 6.

Yeah... it's even more egregious, because they'd have had 2-3 times as many opportunities to give people the core characters they want.

Seriously, how many SW figures have Sideshow made now? Where is Chewie? R2? 3P0? Yoda? Still nowhere in sight. But damn if we get lots of generic Rebel and Imperial troops. Hypothetically, if the line were to end RIGHT NOW the overall line up of characters would be a bigger joke than any of Hot Toys' measly offerings.

Look at INDY. Now 4 figures in and only 2 (Adventure Indy and Toht) are what anyone would have anywhere near the top of their most-wanted list.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

I agree on Indy. I agree on Chewie, droids, etc.

I don't agree that rebels and generic troops are a waste though.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

They sure as heck are if you never get Chewie, Yoda, Droids or other creatures.

If SSC doesn't do those then its not because they did generic troops, is it? I mean, the problem with those isn't because the release schedule is too full of generics.

Its all about the cost of making them.

Re: Do you think we will ever get Hot Toys Star Wars 1/6 figures?

Maybe it's more about biting off more than you can chew when it comes to what licenses you pick up.

And, yes, my implication is that SSC probably was not quite ready for this 1:6 license in 2005-2006. And THAT is the reason for generic characters and no iconic creatures, droids, etc. It's apparently pretty damn easy to stick a simple human headsculpt on a Buck with generic clothes and call it a day. Chewbacca and the Droids? Well that would take a ton of effort, innovation and extreme attention to detail... all things that Hot Toys is now known for, not Sideshow.

Well everyone could still be stuck with Hasbro still producing their garbage figures. Then people could be ^^^^^ing about their short fat arms, hands that don't hold any thing, out of scale accessories, armor that doesn't fit, goofy grins instead of ^^^^^ing cause Ep II Kenobi has a faintly painted mole.

LOL. And HT would be biting off more than they can chew as well. Think you'd ever get a Lando with HT? How about a Qui-Gon? How about 3 different Obi-Wans? Kit Fisto is a cool figure, would HT make him? No.

Perfect thing would be more partnership items on the figures SSC can't make.

Every time I say that, I'm labeled an apologist. :lol

Although, to give credit where it's due, Jango and Dooku weren't bad at all.
