I like them. Both of them. I actually think the short one looks a little more stout and threatening. I do not see the 'feminine' aspect, except maybe in the sense that he's shorter than the taller 'male' one.
I also think the Sideshow trooper holds up surprisingly well against the HT troopers. I would have thought there was a more substantial difference. So those of you who don't want the HT versions, I think you'll be fine. I agree the SS trooper looks "doll-like" in his physique because of the shape of the larger beast plate.
That said, I do believe the HT troopers look more accurate, have the right color and shine, and likely feel better in-hand in both weight and without the rattling armor.
I'll be happy to pose my HT troopers with my SS trooper and my Marmit trooper.

Regarding "femininity" ... the stormtroopers in ANH in particular...all carried themselves differently. Some of them had that "gung ho badass" military swagger...others had a more "regular guy", sometimes awkward stance ... Nothing like a professional soldier ... And some looked inadvertently feminine.
It's probably a property of the costume. My girlfriend has commented more than once on the femininity of both film and 1/6 depictions of stormtroopers. She's not a Star Wars fan so her view is pretty unbiased.

I think the feminine knock is legit, but they still both look outstanding. To me it has to do with the chest armor and the narrow shoulders more so than the height specifically.
Regarding the height of shortie, in these photos I'm seeing most of the height reduction in the ab area and almost no difference in the legs, but maybe that's futzing.
Edit: Nevermind, I see more gap between the crotch and thigh armor on the tall one in some of the pics.

Speculatively stuck my SS version on ebay, I need more of the HT ones.
Just heard back from a Hong Kong parts seller, they have two different bodies underneath the armour...definitely something that cannot be changed without a body swap...sticking with tall singles...and already got a mouse droid secured...will look great leading squad of Stormtroopers!

I think shorty just needs his cod piece lowered a bit to balance him out to look like his legs are a bit shorter and you'll have a fine little guy. Like Captain America pre-juiced.

Chest and narrow shoulders....?
Yeah, I don't mean in every shot or anything. Just in some random angles like this one where (maybe it's just futzing) the chest armor on the left stormtrooper hangs low, has a neck line, sticks out a bit, and kinda resembles boobs. Maybe I just have a thing for stormtroopers.
I hope you can futz the shorty a bit to have his armor more even. To make him look short and not truncated.

Got mine today too, they are fantastic. Not had much futz time as i only nipped home for my lunch break, but heres a quick pic of taller trooper as he's the only one i had time to check out. Switching hands is a pain >.< just like it is with all armoured figures kept pulling amour off his arm.
Thanks for this picture and for all the others (which all seem to be from UK Freaks, yay!). I can only begin to imagine how exciting it was taking the lid off and seeing the plastic tray for the first time. It just doesn't get more iconic than this.
I know people have said you can't put a Luke head on these... but from looking at the body I can't really see why not. Has anyone tried, and if so, I would REALLY appreciate pictures. Also, if anyone has the time to put up a photo of the tall stormy next to HT Bespin Luke for a size comparison that would be much appreciated. Thanks.
