My Swedish dealer says he can't find the figures, but says his mince tastes great. Hmmm.. A little suspect.

I'm probably in the minority here but I'm not terribly impressed with the HT Stormie. I think that it's somewhat cheap on their part that they have to pad part of the body with foam in order for the armor to fit considering that they designed the armored body for SS and SS has never had to use such measures to make the armor fit.

The SS Stormie is far from prefect but I would rather pay $200 on the current market for an SS Stormie that the armor fits without the aid of foam that will become brittle a deteriorate in time. So far the only HT figure that I have been impressed with is Chewie but that in part is because no one else has attempted to do him in the last 10 years in 1:6 scale aside from Hasbro.

With my luck I will buy Chewie only to have SS show a good sculpted version at SDCC later this year, but for now I will take a chance on the HT Chewie

Armour fits on the SS stormie? Really? The chest armour needs heat treatment because of how awful a fit it is, as well as velcro at the sides to keep it from splaying apart. The thigh armour slips up and down, the shoulder bells slip and slide all over the place and the helmet only sits properly proportion-wise if its lifted off its neck joint. And then there's the body which will either have to be switched out or glue-treated at the joints because of how floppy it is. And a coat of floor-wax to give it a shine that many folks will see as a better surface finish. I paid a hundred bucks for mine, but no way would I pay double that with the HT figures now available. But horses for courses and all that.

You're entitled to your opinion, of course...but in my experience the SSC armour doesn't really "fit"...it's shifty.

Foam may deteriorate over time depending on environmental conditions, but it's not a worry any time soon and an easy fix in the event.

And I do think the sculpt and proportions are far better than SSC's.

There are a handful of people across the forums that are happy with the SSC, well and good for them, but I do maintain that by objective, measurable standards the HT is a superior product.

But as I always say...not my toys and not my money, so dig what you dig.

Meanwhile, I will await my overpriced new troops with Nerd Glee.

Local swedish dealer? I'm thinking why wait (at least) three more months and pay more than if you order from HK now?

Because I dont have the money or space to display right now. Just wanted to plan ahead so I know when I need funds availible.

Ok, just curious. I have only found a handful of dealers here and none of them are particularly competitive pricewise. There have been a few exceptions to the rule of course, I'm always looking for the next one.

I managed to get a good deal on the scout trooper + speeder bike but that was because I contacted them right away before it was up on their site. Otherwise I agree its quite hard to find reasonable prices.

As I have the Shadow Trooper in hand already, I can tell you with absolute certainty that the way the Hot Toys armor fits on the body is so strikingly natural that it looks like a tiny person. The Sideshow version never escaped the toy proportions and feels very unpolished now. I'm not bashing the SSC version - it's still good for what it is and I kept all 5 of my Sideshow Sandtroopers. But trying to argue that the Sideshow armor fits better and disregarding the HT version because of a bit of foam is honestly a disservice to yourself.

Thanks for posting comparison pics :) The HT proportions are so much better, but the SS and HT together don't look too bad together.

They are very nice figures, not perfect, but very nice. Cannot wait for mine to arrive and see them in person and all their details.

Definitely better than the SSC version (as I would expect after 5 years). Bodies are much improved, though the taller trooper is front heavy with the long blast rifle so need to make sure he is balanced well.

One helmet does have a big splodge of white paint at the front (but hey, they are stormtroopers and the real ones had some terrible paint apps) and one had some glue on the chest piece which I used some polywatch to remove. Already had to glue one of the little block ouch dangly things back on but again, nothing new with HT figures to find weak glue.

Overall I'm very happy and may well pick up another two.
