The armor is just beautifully done on the HT troopers, detail and sharpness is just awesome! But the marmit still looks fantastic given that its over 20 years old:)

As nice as the HT troopers are, when you look at it beside the marmit, sculpting and accuracy of the helmet haven't moved on much in 20 years

Marmit was way ahead of its time.....

Exactly. The Marmit are still fantastic today. Look at their AT-AT Driver, not perfect, but still awesome.

The thing that bothers me most about the HT Stormtrooper helmet is the jaw area. It's too pronounced. Not enough to make me not buy and enjoy the figure though. :lol

Edit: I see people keep bringing up the Marmit helmet as a comparison. In my opinion even the Marmit doesn't even come close to Gentle Giant's sculpt of the Stormtrooper helmet.

The lid from the GG Stormtrooper bust in simply the best, with 2 minor gripes, the long mic tips and the helmet a tad too small. Otherwise it was scanned from a 1:1 helmet, that is why it looks so accurate.

Yeah really. Remember when a Stormtrooper was just a Stormtrooper? :)

It was never just a Stormtrooper. It was one of the most iconic villains ever, thus we got 501st, and lots of 1:1 helmets. Just like with Vader, or Boba.

That makes him look like he's tired and has bags under his eyes after a long shift on the Death Star.

You are so right. When I got my first Star Wars figure ESB wasn't even released and I didn't know what Star Wars really was. Of the figures I had to chose between, Vader and the Stormtrooper were the only ones in contention.

The details on the screen used helmets are very sharp all over, years of recasting and copying of molds in the prop scene has somehow fooled people to believe otherwise. I had a pretty good idea as well before I got into props, and then I learned the truth and of course started to watch the movies in a different way. :lol

In my opinion finding a new way to watch Star Wars is never a bad thing.

Looks like Hero, Stunt, Low-Brow Stunt, and then you'll notice other irregularities due to assembly, paint etc.

A bit daunting, that.

They need to introduce into EU lore that Stormtroopers made their own helmets, hence the handmade look.

Gotta love the one on the far left, he made his helmet after a few at the pub

Looks like all these drunk troopers are also left-handed - like many of the ones in other scenes.

I'm going to have to make some new holsters, because I won't be displaying any bloody left-handed troopers on these shelves.

Haha
But If you've ever held or fired a rifle that's how you hold one when you are right handed

I've only been on a firing range once...so I know very little about guns...as right-handed, I use my right to squeeze the trigger and the other hand to aid my grip; plus the shell ejection breach in projectile weapons is meant to spit hot shells away from the user, correct?? So rifle orientation is based on this? At least with the Sterling SMG? Is it an SMG? Can someone knowledgeable weigh in?

Which makes me wonder what left-handed shooters do....can't remember if my instructor told me...

There are both left and right handed guns but most leftys who handle a lot of guns learn to shoot right handed. The ones I know do anyway

Problem solved. :wink1:

Vader must've ordered left-handed troopers to board the Tantive IV. Maybe there were a lot of right-handed corridor turns on their planned journey through the ship. :lol

Aboard the Death Star the lefts and rights are more balanced:

I pre ordered the single trooper but been debating about getting the two pack instead but the shorter trooper looks a tad off to me. Might just get two single troopers instead.

To each their own, but as I've said before; that short trooper screams 1977 ... I actually think it's my favourite. They need futzing out of the box, maybe that's what you're seeing as "off"?

Maybe... I probably will just end up getting the two pack. My place I get my stuff from is pretty late on some stuff. Haven't even gotten r2-d2 yet.

Funny how wrong that pic now looks. The asymmetry is absolutely burned into proper representations of the helmet.

And, btw, what the hell is wrong with left-handed troopers? As a lefty myself, I don't understand why it would bother anyone.

Except that I know (from experience) that piper cannot tolerate anything being placed in the left hand of any Star Wars character.
