Sorry man. :( This happened before with bad paint apps. I even asked my local distributor to take a look at my figures before shipping them to me - was lucky, they are perfect. If those lumps were on the cap of the helmet you might have seen it as an excuse for bumpy cap (though that happened only on Stunt Stormie helmet not Hero like the HT one). The right knee part can be glued I think. I glued the entire belt and the magnet on my single trooper - the first to arrive.

My advice = return for replacement

Yeah I would return that to. My second set (returned the first cause the chestplate was damaged) has a small lump but its not as noticeable.

The knee part glued back okay.

Lee at Collectibles Direct replied to my email lightning fast to say he'd send my photos to his supplier to check with Sideshow if a replacement can be supplied for the short trooper's helmet.

So you are sending back only the helmet?

I had to take back the entire set. That fixed all other problems but got me a helmet with some small faults. Might try to pickup a loose helmet.

Are there places selling just the helmets? Not sure if Toy Anxiety has them

Thanks, jkno! :)

Excepting the lumpy paint issue, the figures are stunning.

They are great figure indeed.

These look and feel light years ahead of Sideshow's old trooper, who's now been relegated to another shelf.

I think I'll order future troopers direct from Sideshow in case of quality control issues.

Spacetrooper and Luke Stormtrooper are already with them, as will the Sandtrooper when he becomes coupon eligible.

These really evoke the nostalgia of Star Wars for me. The first ever photo from the film I remember seeing was that of Han and Luke in trooper disguise with Chewbacca, which appeared in the first issue of the Marvel comic. (Which in turn was my first knowledge that the film even existed!)

For me the cost would be too much to order directly from Sideshow. And my distributor is as good as SSC when coming to helping. But I do have the Spacetroper coming from SSC - though they were not my first choice, just the only one available...

At the moment it's an odd situation where some things are actually cheaper to order from Sideshow than locally (taking into account $20 coupons and the reward points earned through purchase). The Sandtrooper is one of those, but it's dependent on the exchange rate not falling too much.

Do vendors sell them close to retail price there or mark them way up? The most recent one I ordered from sideshow is charging Wednesday so the wait isn't too bad. I was going to get five of them, but I'm getting a space trooper, at least one sand trooper, maybe Luke and eventually Han so I am sticking with three.

The singles were all going for $199 (taxable only if you don't pay cash). I bought my 2 pack on Wed. preview night and it was $425. The same vendor is the only one I saw carrying the 2 pack... on Thursday he had a set up for $445 and then the last three days of the con they were going for $469... They came sealed with original outer shipper carton too for those that care about that sort of thing.

I haven't unpacked mine yet, I bought too much cool stuff. I also bought an EFX prop replica Storm Trooper helmet which is bad a$$. The Prop Store had one of the original ANH helmets there on display which they were expecting to live auction off for upwards of $92,000.... one of the original E-11 blasters was expected to get upwards of $22,000. It looked really cool in person.

Got my 2-Pack a couple weeks ago from a local retailer (Belgium). Unfortunately, had to report a couple paint issues. My retailer turned to Sideshow but they declined sending replacement parts. They offered either a full refund as long as i provided proof of destruction or a partial refund to make for those issues.

My retailer managed to find parts from another source but i'm most unimpressed by Sideshow on that matter. As official Hot Toys distributor for both US AND EU markets, they should have replacements part available especially since those stortroopers are still available on their site.
