looks awesome, ZE. Great armor proportions, very movie-like!
Thank you, parras, your opinion carries some weight.
Although the end game here will likely be a full repaint (with decals for tube stripes) I'm seeing a couple of things as I tinker with this.
The Marmit armour being not as blindingly white, almost makes it look a touch more realistic; the HDPE helmets in the film were painted, so in some light you can see a slight difference in finish between helmet and armour.
The strapping that makes the Hot Toys stormtroopers so much fun to handle and pose due to tight armour, is a hindrance to the wonky, screen-used look, so for instance I didn't strap the chest armour into place. It does make it a pain to re-pose, but the look is more authentic. You could probably just re-do the straps so they aren't as tight.
The more I look at this screen-used style, the more I want to make the armour grimy for a Tantive IV look, which may also serve to blend the slightly different tones in the armour pieces...and although it's taking it very far into prop territory and away from what was intended to be viewed on film, I almost want to simulate the white gaffer tape and other prop department mistakes, bodges and fixes
Not entirely sold on the Hot Toys shoulder bells for this custom. Their shape is too clean and regular, may switch to trimmed and warped Marmit bells, although some of that may be difficult to replicate at this scale.
I have Don Cheadle's head under that bucket, by the way. Makes it easier to pose!
