Hot Toys Star Wars Stormtrooper

I have to admit, the Hot Toys troopers look fantastic. I'm on the fence about getting a set , I have several Sideshow troopers. I think I can live with them. Is anyone else on the fence about these only because you already have the Sideshow ones?

I only have a single SS trooper, and I'm only ordering one HT trooper. In hindsight I would've sold off the SS one to finance a second HT one, but that ship has sailed. I can't see why anyone would pass on as many of these as their budget allows - better surface finish, proportions, detailing and body integrity than the SS make this figure pretty appealing. Bummer

Ordered a singular tall Stormtrooper from BBTs too. I have a hunch this will arrive faster than my EU order of the double pack

I tried it with fewer coils of the LEDs, but it was awfully dim.

Did you try putting LEDs only around the perimeter? The issue with too much strip is that you're creating hot and cold (shadow) spots because of the way the strip is positioned.

I'd second bransen's recommendation, paint the inside white. And if those bosses (stand-offs) in the middle aren't needed, cut them out too.

I deleted my account, I can't afford the extra time and I wasn't a fan of the way they had the forum organized. There are 4 times the number of sub-forums necessary and it just makes finding and following anything a real pain. To get my 3A fix I instead joined Facebook and the 3A BST group.

Another few questions... What kind of LEDs are on the strip? Larger 5050? What are you powering those lights with and how many volts is the adapter being used?

Thanks for the tip! That stand looks awesome! I would love to make a custom base for the carbonite chamber with this style lighting underneath, and then set up Bespin Luke and Vader for a duel.

I like this display. Very nice. Just what I needed to see... A badass Vader display with FOUR Stormies, when I only have the two pack at the moment. Lol
