hey folks, i just got my weathered rubber skin T600 endo a few days ago.
just wanna post some thoughts and pics...
first of all, this fella is BIG. i'm talking sideshow vader big. when i stood them side by side, they were about the same height, so i'd put the t600 at about 14inches tall. this makes for a very imposing figure and it certainly adds to the sense of menace that the character is supposed to possess.
right out of the box, the figure is already fully assembled except for his weapons and his ammo pack. the gatling gun and the grenade launcher are fairly easy to put on--- just remove his hands (they're attached to his forearms by 3 plastic rods) and slide the weapons on their respective arms and replace the hands. no problem. but here's a major head's up for u guys: the ammo backpack is a MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS to set up!!!
actually it's not that bad if u have the right tools, but if u don't, you're in for a stressful time. luckily i had a pair of tweezers for the job, so it saved a whole lotta hassle (needle-nose pliers are better). u will need this tool because in order to wear the pack onto the figure, the straps need to lengthened. and since these straps and buckles are all in 1/6 scale, everything is extra hard to fiddle around with. with the tweezers/pliers, u need to loosen the straps from the tiny buckles and un-loop them until they are long enough. this goes for both the shoulder straps as well as the waist straps. my complaint is why couldn't hot toys ship these figures out with the straps already at the correct length, saving us a whole lotta trouble?
the other scary part of assembly are the tiny buckle fasteners. they are really, really fragile so be EXTRA careful when popping the prongs back into the hole cos they could snap easily. at one point i felt like i was in iraq disarming a bomb rather than in my bedroom putting together a toy. it's pretty tricky. u have been warned.
also, the rubber mask is not easy to align with the endo's red eyes. it took me a while to get it right, and even then the left eye hole is a bit too low. but it's hardly noticeable and i plan to customize the mask to show more of the skull underneath, so it's not a big deal to me.
oh yeah, the ankles on this figure are not the tightest in the world, so don't keep moving that part or it'll get too loose for him to stand on his own.
as far as "negatives" go, that's pretty much it. everything else about the t600is pretty good. i really love the tattered clothing, it adds so much to the realism of this figure. the paintwork is simply superb and when u look at this figure, u don't doubt that you're looking at a "metal" construct rather than plastic and rubber. in this dept, hot toys has nailed it once again.
in terms of articulation, it seems to have more freedom of movement compared to the t800. but i don't plan on changing his pose too much anyway. the familiar pose in the movie where he is pretty much just standing there with both arms raised to fire both weapons simultaneously is how i plan to display him.
the base is excellent too, and enhances the menace of this terminator. ht also included a packet full of bullet shells so u can scatter them on the base for more atmosphere.
overall, i'm quite pleased with how the rubber skin t600 turned out. he's pretty well made aside from the issues i mentioned.
he is not my favourite figure of the year though. that honour goes to the iron man mark1, a seriously brilliant feat of engineering, paint apps and design.
but as far as representation from the movie "salvation" goes, this fella does it best, imo.
if u haven't already ordered the t600, do get him. it's definitely a worthy buy.
hope u guys/gals found my "review" useful.
ok, here's some pics of my t600...
