Super Freak
Just got back from picking up Harvey at the post-office. Here are my thoughts - for what they're worth:
The good
Both the Dent and Two-Face sculpts are excellent. I know there's been a lot of discussion around how accurate the Two-Face one is especially, but to my eye it's fantastic. Sure, I didn't compare it scar-for-scar against a still from the film, but that's not something I'd do anyway. They are great representations of both Eckhart and the CGI burns and I don't feel the need to hope for an improved version.
The paint jobs on both heads are great, except for the lower lid lining. The thin brown line could have been a little thinner on both heads. I scraped a knife point very lightly across it on the Dent head, and the lighter line now looks perfect. On the Two-Face head, it all depends on the angle at which I look at it - from the side it's too dark, from front on it actually catches the light a little and almost disappears -the effect makes the eye even more realistic.
Suit tailoring is ok. I actually like the shirt fabric a bit better than previous ones since I think it looks more realistic in scale. The burn effect on the Two-Face jacket is excellent, but...
The bad
The burnt jacket is thick. I mean really thick. The more I have to do with them, the less I like the True-Type shoulders and the way jackets are tailored around them. It's not that I think they're too wide as such, but think the lack of any real slope from neck to deltoid is the main reason why, if you move the arms anything other than by their sides, the collar of the jacket gapes unattractively. The thickness of this on the Two-Face side makes it even worse and more obvious. If they hadn't used the burnt fabric on the underside of the collar, that might have made things better,
The coin is seriously undersized. He might also have a big thumb (with an ugly seam, but I actually hardly noticed the seam after first seeing it - it helps that I have that side turned away) and that might be making the coin look smaller, but the coin is definitely undersized.
The paint aps on the gun need work - it looks cheap.
I wonder what other accessories could have been included with the figure - a carbon fiber gun to snatch away from someone in the witness stand? An oil-barrel rigged to blow? I admit there's not much else that HT could have included, but compare this figure to the BR Joker and he's feeling seriously light on accessories. The additional jacket just doesn't seem like all that much. In fact, I would even have been happy to pay a little extra and have Harvey come with the Batsignal. It doesn't look like Gordon will be happening, and Dent did use it to summon Batman.
The nit-picky
I wish HT would stop lining their jackets, or at least their jacket sleeves. Sure it's a sign of "quality" but it also adds additional bulk and makes things like getting the shirt cuffs (mine were really tight) to show slightly out the bottom of the jacket really hard
The bag the coins and button come in is heat-sealed. I KNOW I'm going to lose them, it would be better if that bag was resealable. (I've put them in my own, very small zip-loc bag now)
I would have loved for HT to go the extra mile and make the name plate on the stand reversible - have Harvey Dent printed on one side, turn it around and it says Two-Face on the other.
All in all, awesome figure that I'm really glad I have. Got it at a really good price too (which helps my feelings about it being accessory-light). Now USPS just needs to find the BR Joker Joe sent me and I'll have all the HT Batstuff I want.
