While Giger did the original alien, the trinity still are bound by involvement by Stan in at least one picture, he was the man.

It's probably a realistic projection. Without likeness rights, we'd be lucky if they do a T1 Kyle Reese, let alone Sarah, though their T2 figure with rights to Linda's likeness bears faint resemblance so maybe they could get away with not having the rights
