It's a late one tonight, but I wanted to spend the time getting on this one. There's a ton to talk about and look at with the new T-1000 from Hot Toys. Almost as good as T2 was, this sixth scale figure is already in my top 5 for the year.

You can find all the reviews at the usual:

Thanks for reading!

Great review (as always!) and thanks for posting it man.

Love reading and looking at your site...one of the finest out there.

Nice review! I just got my T-1000 today and its a fantastic figure, i agree with the gun holster issues that may arise when opening them up to put the gun and extra clips in the belt, i had a hard time closing it up once i was done...

especially the handcuff pouch.

I just used tweezers to push in the area around the holes and with that I found it all pretty easy and hassle-free. I think it's easy enough if you just aim to push the area around the hole in towards the ball thing, not try to push the ball thing through the hole.

I think that may be a good idea. You should rank all the figures, and with each review insert that figure into the ranking. With only a 4 point scale, there are too many 3.5/4 star reviews to figure out which ones are truly the best.

I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong or mis-reviewing (is that a word?). I love your and Wook's reviews. I just mean that Hot Toys is firing on all cylinders, and it would really help if an excellent critic like yourself would break the 3-4 star reviews down even more.

A ranking list would be awesome! Especially if you and Wookster kept separate ranking lists and we could compare and debate them.

Again, I have no fault with your reviews. They are an excellent tool for me to decide what figures to buy. So thank you for keeping up the excellent work. It's just an idea.

Thanks!

Edited to add: An overall rank list would be quite awesome because with Hot Toys improving so massively, a 4-star review 6 months-1 year ago probably won't compare to a 4-star review now. So it's hard for me to look back at an old 4-star review and wonder where you would rank it today.

I actually disagree with this. These figures don't have to be compared to other figures, or ranked against others. A four star review means the figure is thought of as worthy of four stars. It doesn't matter whether the reviewer likes it better than another four star figure.

Thanks for your feedback.

I guess my issue is that Hot Toys is firing on all cylinders right now, and it seems that almost every figure is getting 4 stars or close to it. There's nothing to differentiate the ones that are truly special.

Part of my issue is that we're reading reviews about lifelike accuracy. A 4 star figure from Hot Toys circa 2007 would be laughed at by today's standards. If I'm trying to choose a figure I want to buy from the reviews, those 3.5-4 stars don't equal today's 3.5-4 stars.

The original Hot Toys Joker for example was rated 3.5 stars. At the time, it was hard to argue with that. The figure was incredibly well received as a leap of quality by Hot Toys. In fact, it was the figure that got me into 1:6 collecting (wallet grumbles). But, there's obviously no way it would receive 3.5 stars today as compared to today's figures. So if I'm comparing 3.5 star figures in trying to figure out which ones to buy, it shouldn't make the list.

Maybe I'm just bad at articulating what I feel is missing from the reviews. I'm not trying to take anything away from the amazing reviews Michael and Wook write. I was trying to see if there was anything they could do to improve their brilliant work.

Please forgive my ramblings and move on. lol.

I had a feeling that was the angle you were getting at, the rising standards through the years - a 3.25 star review for MMS01 Kyle Reese may have been appropriate way back then but it wouldn't fly now if the same figure was being reviewed again in light of current standards. Looking at the review, Wookster's I think, I'm sure not only the grading but also the wording would be less flattering now. I have the figure and the orange skin and shiny detail-free hands are a joke next to todays figures, not to mention that Hot Toys figures back then were a little bigger than they are now and kinda just ''don't fit'' as a result.

Maybe a "retroactive reviews" section would be a neat idea. Although it wouldn't be strictly necessary, most people can make up their own minds from pics I expect.

Excellent review as always, Michael.

one thing though, i noticed u didnt put the pen in the shirt pocket. is it because the shirt on ur t1000 also doesnt have the hole? mine doesnt... n its really irritatin me that i cant put the pen in...

Mine also has no hole to put pen into. Do others have it or it is DIY? I don't wanna make any cut onto the shirt as it's too risky.

I bought two and I didn't think either one had a hole but looking closer I think they do now. The hole is pin-hole size and just a little above the the inner corner of the right pocket, yes? I see that on both of mine. One is really small, like a pin has been poked in it and removed, and kind of covered by the pocket corner, but the other is more visible, being a little bigger and sitting just above the pocket. That's it, right? If not, I guess I might've accidentally poked holes in the fabric with the pen while searching. Originally I thought the hole people were talking about was meant to be in the stitching of the pocket and that it was was supposed to slide into a gap there, that's what I was looking for.

If this pinhole is where the pen goes, I'm a little reluctant to put the pen in. Once in the pen is going to stretch out a reasonable hole and should you ever remove the pen it seems like you'd be left with a pretty noticeable bit of damage, it seems to me.

Well the hole in mine was obvious. A perfect circle and just big enough for the pen. It definitely wasn't a small pin sized hole, it was pretty noticable.

I haven't opened my other two figures yet but when I do I'll let you guys know.

I wasn't even attempting to put the pen in, no visible opening for it at all,(ooer).

Man, that sucks. It seems like the majority of owners are missing the holes in the shirt.

Well, you convinced me. I was trying to keep the T2 line to just Arnie, but now I gotta get me a T-1000... and probably Sarah too.
