So I'm going to put a show theory in here as it may impact my desire to purchase a figure if it comes true. I have no insider knowledge nor have I paid attention to any other discussions on this show so this theory is probably not anything new.
I am basing this on information we have been presented with up to this posting so it has some mild spoiler information in it. I'd skip it if you haven't watched the show yet and want to go in clean.
I will not be surprised AT ALL if Sol ends up being the Acolyte of the shows title. Smilo has already mentioned how weak his current apprentice is (something he should have long been aware of), his desire for a powerful acolyte, and the darkness within Sol. They have also been dropping hints that the Jedi were more involved with the death/destruction that happened on the twins home planet and that the four kept it a secret. They also need to resolve why the Jedi are not aware of the Sith's return 100 years later. All of the Jedi that are aware need to either die (just about there) or no longer be affiliated to the Jedi (such as turning).
My guess is that recruiting Sol was Smilo's goal all along. The assassinations done by Mae were a way to draw Sol out, not as a test for her. Mae is already having suspicions that her master was ordering her to kill without a weapon to purposely set her up for failure. Success or failure by Mae would be inconsequential as either result would get Sol's attention.
So what does this long winded theory have to do with figures? Well, if Sol does become the new Sith apprentice I would most likely get his figure. I have already enjoyed his character to this point but I would have no desire to get a figure of him if he's a one and done.
I'm sure I'd get a Smilo either way as I like the way the character has been handled and the acting job done. Him being part of the Sith linage that leads to the PT/OT doesn't hurt either. My preferred display would be without the cloak and helmet as he actually looks more bad *** without them. Having no one to display him with (no desire for either twin) would be boring though. Having him displayed with his future apprentice Sol, however, has some definite appeal.
It also opens the door for this character/actor to have future appearances. This could lead to having a figure progression of fall from light to dark as well as him becoming the master and having an apprentice of his own (Plagueis?). It would be pretty cool to have a potential Sith linage display of Smilo -> Sol -> Plagueis -> Sidious.
I'm sure like most theories mine will come to naught but it is sometimes fun to think about what may be and how that may impact our collections.
It's an interesting theory but if true then Smilo's recruiting method depended on sheer luck. After he killed Jecki and Yord (god, what awful Jedi names lol) Sol bested him in battle and would have killed him if not for Osha's reminding him that it "wasn't the Jedi way". Given his stated goals and the darkness he claimed to see in Sol I don't think Smilo would have bet his life on that happening. It seems more likely that with the Parent Trap switch they're setting up Osha to be his acolyte, with whatever the Jedi/Sol did the night of the fire seen by her as an unforgivable betrayal and the trigger to tap into her dark side. From what she's shown us so far I'm not sure this Amandla Stenberg is capable of portraying such a turn in a convincing manner, but maybe she'll rise to the occasion. So I'm going to put a show theory in here as it may impact my desire to purchase a figure if it comes true. Yep. Show is DOA and any figures are dead with it.
They learned their lesson, probably in large part because of the warehouse full of eternals figures that they will never, ever sellI dunno. What about "The Eternals"? That was a bomb and they sure made figures from that.

Yeah, it's always a risk with a moderators weighing in re: "political content" like what you've posted (as opposed to discussing figures/thread topic,) but if they agree with that political content, you'll be fine with no warning/deletion/penalty. But technically that is indeed at minimum "poiltical discussion adjacent."I would definitely purchase a Qimir/Stranger fully suited figure (with added headsculpt). It's a fantastic design and great character.
I doubt we will see one anytime soon though. The show was being fully attacked since it was first announced and that only got worse and worse as time went on. It's only the last couple of weeks that has started to change, but so many of the hate-bait monetized grifters have dug such a hole for themselves with their extreme content, they can't back down or will suffer being torn to pieces but their own rabid acolytes. I don't blame Hot Toys deciding the stay away from this series. I think in time though they may come back with one or two key figs. Perhaps around season 2 release time.
I can see where you are coming from with "political adjacent", but my intention is not to denigrate genuine criticism of the the show, but was about the frustration of those manufacturing backlash for their personal financial gain - economics as opposed to politics. I definitely want to stay out of the politics over there. The only politics I want in Star Wars is story related politics. For example the hints being dropped in the show that seem to be leading the Jedi into the position they were in at the start of TPM as essentially a police force at the command of the senate.Yeah, it's always a risk with a moderators weighing in re: "political content" like what you've posted (as opposed to discussing figures/thread topic,) but if they agree with that political content, you'll be fine with no warning/deletion/penalty. I had that exact same theory as soon as ep 5 dropped and yes that could impact my decision on a Sol fig. I would like a fig to pair with Qimir and Mae/Osha is not that fig. But agree that is looking less likely now.So I'm going to put a show theory in here...

Would love to respond in the interest of moderation - its a discussion that directly applies to whether Acolyte figs would be produced or not (so is the topic of this thread) - but selective enforcement prevents it.I can see where you are coming from with "political adjacent", but my intention is not to denigrate genuine criticism of the the show, but was about the frustration of those manufacturing backlash for their personal financial gain - economics as opposed to politics. Back to the figs, as others have pointed out (and myself), I would love a fully kitted out Qimir/Stanger. It's such a great look and would have fantastic shelf presence. And Manny did a wonderful job with how he moves and the poses he holds in that suit. As much as I like Sol, not sure I'd buy a fig. I passed on QuiGon and most other Jedi. The problem with most Jedi is they all look too similar so I limit myself to a select few. But these High Republic Jedi are basically in uniform. That's fine with troopers who are mostly background or intended to look like a squad, but not so much for central characters. Unless you want an army of space monks on the shelf in which case all the power to you .
Yup, The moderating on this site is "decidedly inconsistent" to say the least...Yeah, it's always a risk with a moderators weighing in re: "political content" like what you've posted (as opposed to discussing figures/thread topic,) but if they agree with that political content, you'll be fine with no warning/deletion/penalty. Feel free to report any places you feel the policy is being violated. We can't be everywhere at once.
