The scar on the nose was only in the comic. And I feel like the shell casings were either the same situation or they were almost unnoticeable in the film.
Actually the scar on the nose and shell casings in the hair are in the movie as well.

Embarassingly enough, I've never noticed the scar before but upon close inspection of screenshots it's there. It's almost non-existent in some images though so I can see why HT didn't include it. They didn't spend as much time on this figure as they did on Mandarin, that's obvious.

well, They could have made the figure with the crow Smiling. But I don't get why the smile has to be so big.

they could have made the smile without teeth even. Just the lips. or a smirk

I guess the smile looks too big for me. Almost looks like he is saying "Cheese"

Pop in the movie and give it a watch. You'll see what we mean when we say he makes that huge smile (including a lot of tooth!) all through the movie. It's iconic, and its a throw back to the GN as well.

Problem with a simple smirk or smile without teeth is that while I can see it looking ok, maybe, it wouldn't add any drama or give any real action weight or memorable trigger effect of the character in our memories. From what I can tell, that toothy smile evokes a lot of "PERFECT" expression responses from a lot of the fans, including myself. We may want another expression, of course.. (who wouldn't?!) But I don't know that I'd want anything other than a blank face. To me, the only two expressions you could really give this figure are the huge toothy smile, or the sad/non-action/brooding pose.

And while I LOVE that look, and would die for a second sculpt of it, I can also take a step back and realize a lot of us wouldn't want to pose him with that. It would look horrible for any sort of action stance because it is too neutral. And It only really works for one or two posed "standing" positions. Through most of the film, he's smiling. From when kids are running around, when he's fighting, when he's just fallen from a rooftop and breaks out into hysterical laughter.. when he jumps on the table and sits cross legged.. it was an iconic look for him.

I don't see what's wrong with the headsculpt. It looks just like him. A regular "neutral" sculpt would have been boring. That's all Hot Toys seems to do. This is a breath of fresh air and adds more "character" to the figure in my opinion.

Forget the expression, it's fine. People should complain about the lack of accessories.

Agreed..

I'm gonna try and sculpt up some tombstones if I can. Would like both Eric and Shelly's.. Never done anything like that, but if it turns out good, i'm sure I could cast them and get some to a few of you if you want them. Might print out some copies of the hangman's joke album too, and maybe the press shots with the markered on lines on his face? lol.. I don't know what all I'd display, but the lack of acc. for the figure is totally making my head spin with options on what to make.

Did people not like the 'Avengers' Cap unmasked headsculpt? I thought it looked great and dug that HT went with an expression off the beaten path. Same here, this just works. I'd love a neutral closed-mouth sculpt because the makeup would look especially cool there, but I can make do with this no problem.

Hmm far from great. Nice to see HT tackle him though. Now pop an Arsyn haired head on that body and we may be looking at something special.....

Does anyone think it would be a bad idea to preorder this off ebay using Goodshipped? Do you think it will be available from any US retailers besides Sideshow?

I'm really happy they tried something different in terms of facial expressions, I think this looks great. I never dreamed they would even make this, this is still such a surprise to me.

Sculpt looks great to me.

Lazy accessories is disappointing.
I do understand why the estate would want the figure without guns .... but it is a big part of the movie, and not having hands included that we could use for weapons we buy ourselves is annoying.

I have to say I agree with Rory on the teeth. Although its not as Horsish imo...I just would prefer a more neutral face. Ill still get it because it is a grail but Im hoping the mouth is tweaked a bit. And the hair I think needs to be a bit longer but other than that...where's the pre Order?

I always say NEVER Pre-Order off ebay. Too many horror stories. If they don't deliver after the 45 day paypal window you're screwed out of your money.

Oh man, I didn't know that, thank you for the info. :( I only once preordered off ebay using Loontentoys for Coulson, and there were no problems, but he isn't offering this yet.

I'll take your advice and just wait and see who gets it. :)

The weathervane hand should be able to hold a seperately-bought katana I reckon. As for the shotgun, he didn't have tape on his hands in the scene where he used it so buying regular gun hands would be fine. It's the pistol that's the issue; he didn't pick one of those up until after taping himself so however big of a problem that is depends on how movie-accurate you want to get.
