Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Lt. Jim Gordon S.W.A.T suit version Figure - Specs & Pic

They have had about 5 attempts at the joker sculpt and not got it right but they get Jim Gordon spot on first try?

Others say the opposite. There is simply no pleasing everyone all the time. I don't say that as a slag, just a statement of fact.

If we knew for sure that Hot Toys would revisit this character I'd probably give this release a miss.... problem is we dont know that Hot Toys will revisit this character and the fact that this is a show exclusive that will more than likely sell out and become really expensive really quick I'm going to have to get on board with this straight away

Hadn't accounted for either of these show exclusives and yet I'm getting both :gah:

Gordon is all about the moustache, specs and trenchcoat. Waiting for TDKR version.

Cool to see a licenced Oldman figure though. The only other one was NECA and GG's Sirius Black.

Wow, they freakin' nailed this one! How is it that they can knock some out of the park and others are so bad (I'm looking at you, Captain America)?

I'm wondering that too, sadly I might add.

That is my problem too. I think this is a fantastic likeness and if I miss it now I see it going up in cost fast. I keep cutting loose figures I have preordered to adjust for the new one's popping up. Too many great pieces at once. It is both a good time and a bad time to be a collector!

Damn this was complete surprise. I'll get it if the price is decent.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Lt. Jim Gordon S.W.A.T suit version Figure - Specs & Pic

I really hope this is the case.

Don't get your hopes up. It will be the same price as the Captain America exclusive. Why lie to yourselves and think it will be any less?

I wouldn't read too much into the word 'version' by itself but on the other 2 counts...maybe. Its a 'boring' human though and not Batman or a villain so that goes against the likelihood of a second release.

Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight Lt. Jim Gordon S.W.A.T suit version Figure - Specs & Pic

Gotta say I do feel like Iminime nailed certain aspects of his likeness a little better. Neither HT or Iminime were able to get the eye color right though. But this is an awesome fig with good likeness(not perfect) and of course, great realism.

I really like this figure, but would prefer a regular suited Gordon. I've gotta figure there are one of two reasons they went with this look. Either they plan on doing a traditional looking Gordon down the road for TDKR, or they just think this makes for a better "action figure" on the shelf. HT, in general, doesn't like regular guys in suits, and have said so in interviews.

So, if I wanted a Gordon figure, I might not hold my breath waiting for another version in a trenchcoat, because it might not happen.

:exactly: that's why I'm still on the hunt for Iminime's

I dunno, I prefer the SWAT version over trench coat...brings more action to the figure

Love it. Can't wait to get it. Wonder if this will be a difficult release to get. :dunno
I'm really sold on the just the fact that the swat outfit is a "GCPD" version. :yess:

And Hot Toys cannot seem to make rounded eyes. Always squinting and this is not exception. I think that would have helped the sculpt a lot and it already looks great.

Ironically the DX12 cowl sculpt has the opposite problem IMO.

This is what I'm worried about, HT will only even think about doing another Jim Gordon whilst TDKR line is still hot and imo that wont be the case this time next year so it's really a case of now or never and seeing as this one has only just today been revealed I reckon this may well end up being the only one we get.

Right-I agree. I don't see it worth the financial risk to HT to milk this with several versions like say a Batman or Joker. Depending on sales, blah blah, this may be it. I see it as very risky to re-release this with just a suit later after folks already have the swat version. The financial return wouldn't justify the risk. Dunno-just my gut.

I think you guys might have it the wrong way round.

I'm sure they had to pay big for Oldman's likeness.
They may need to make another just to make the likeness rights / returns equation match up
