Yep those handle bars are a B**** haha. those plastic support arms are a crappy design. when i get more free time im gonna mod loads of stuff on mine. change out fragile plastic parts for metal where possible. but other than those bars the thing looks great stock :)

Cheers mate i will post pics of anthing i change, i have a good friend that is a graphic designer & he's also a god machining metal so i'll get him to look over the full chassis & see what could be upgraded to say aluminium. then get it powder coated in black. Ive got nearlly 30 years experience with R/C planes & helis & cars so i know my way around ball joints, bearings, gears & chassis etc,,, :wink1:

I had pre-planned on doing some stuff to the Pod before i got it after seeing some of the issues reported on here, the mis-aligned front wheel problem was concerning me & had already worked out how i was gonna solve that. Just replace the long steering shaft/ column with aluminium & devise some kind of locking mechanism/gear at the end of the shaft but of course this would be hidden in the housing that the shaft goes into. so basically the front wheel can turn slightly left & right then lock into dead centre. Its sounds a lot of work but really it isnt :slap

The main issue causing the front wheel to kink out is the weight of those tyres pulling on what i'd say is a hollow plastic chassis its twisting it very easily due to the column being long, the rear wheel wouldnt cause a problem as it has support on both sides of the wheel very similar to the Swingarm on a real motorcycle :clap

As soon as i move back home to England from Germany next month i'll get the ball rolling on this

congrats!

:

Thanks man. Just hope I don't end up with naff wheels. Yep, I'm totally gonna use that word all the time now. :lol

I doubt it was originally built into the tumbler i bet it was wayne that redesigned & modded it, he's clever enough as if you remember at the end of TDKR he had modified the bats auto pilot & got it working & thats how he survived in the end :clap

Wont be long until wednesday mate looks like were all getting decent Pods with no issues going by what fellow boarders are saying & my own was 100% perfect :yess:

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Probably best not to think about it though, I'm sure they just didn't wanna address it in the movie. Haha.

Yeah I know, will be here before I know it. One of my favourite things about TDKR was the scene where bats makes his return on the batpod. Fingers crossed it comes with no issues.

Really looking forward to what you do to this. Sounds like it'll turn out great. Do you think you'll attempt to mod the wheels so they can do the bizarre spin in the movies when it turns corners?

I Had toyed with the idea of having the spinning axles for the wheels but with it being a static model i dont see the benefit, I think in a real life situation its impossible to achieve that, Theres loads of cables & hydraulics running down the brakes & steering so they would just rip apart & not to mention that the front wheel spinning would smash those guns off if you didn't get the revolution ratio just right. lol You notice my technical drivel coming out now haha thats 10 years in the Army as a Apache technician you need to know about ratios & gears with those beasts ;)

Hope you have no issues with your Pod mate im sure all the latest batch are sound :)

thanks!!!!

just google it :p

can u inform us "yanks" what "naff" means? sounds like a fun word 2 say :lol

:lol it sort of means when something's bad or a bit rubbish. I suppose the best way to describe is if you were to say something is quite s**t. You could say its quite naff. Hope that explains.

He plate, we could single handedly be the ones to introduce the word naff to the US. :lol

Thanks man. I'll be sure to post once it arrives as I'll no doubt be excited and I'll report any problems. Hopefully none.
Sounds like you really know what you're talking about. Sounds like a fun project. I know what you mean about the spinning axles. The thing that bugs me seeing it spin in the movie is just how those gun and lights on the front just wouldn't be able to roll like that without smashing to pieces and no doubt throwing the rider off. :lol movie magic though eh.

:lol :lol good man!

Mine hasn't been delivered yet, proper naff!

Haha, that is really naff. I can already see this getting out of hand and annoying a hell of a lot of people. :lol:rotfl
