I said $799.99 as a bit of a joke some pages back, but has it now been confirmed that it is intact going to be that price?

No, that’s not confirmed…everyone is just speculating. I’m going to speculate it’ll be from $499 to $579 maximum. We'll see!!:rotfl

It still boggles my mind how they got it so wrong on the V1. I mean it was known that ledger was playing the joker, wasn't it? And his look didn't change dramatically, if at all, between those initial teaser shots and the actual film did it? Yet that headsculpt bore only the most basic resemblance, green hair and white face.

Maybe it was all a marketing stint? I mean maybe they decided to release the inaccurate head sculpt with the iconic purple jacket and then release an accurate head sculpt with the bank robber version... This way people had to buy both versions.

Unfortunately it will probably be more than that. Remember that HT said they lost money on the Tumbler and that was retail priced at $499.99. :lecture

Seriously, the more I think about it the more upset I am by the notion of the Hot Toys Batmobile costing $800. This freakin' kid's car is 2-3 times larger, is no less complex in terms of parts and assembly (because the Batmobile is one big block of plastic on wheels), has a working radio and actually freakin' drives for $189. And it's also officially licensed so there are fees associated there as well. You all may think I'm crazy comparing some child toy to a "high end collectible", but when you break it down to what money actually buys in terms of materials, assembly, labor etc what justification is there really? This isn't like one of their 1:6 scale figures where there's hundreds of little parts, clothes that have to be hand-sewn, faces hand-painted, etc - it's just a big brick of unpainted black plastic with a dozen parts glued on. Hell, it'll probably be the cheapest thing they've ever made in terms of labor costs, and as you can see plastic really doesn't cost that much.

$189 (kid sold separately)

$800+ (because Hot Toys says so)

No doubt prices are becoming absolutely crazy! TO be honest HT will charge $800 or $700 or whatever it is because they CAN.

They have a monopoly over high end 1/6 collectibles and even moreso over vehicles which noone is setup to produce in this scale.

They will continue to hike their prices until customers are literally unable to pay. They are fast headed in that direction

Damn, void. You took the words out of my mouth. They know that we will pay for it. I'm sure they know how iconic the car is, and that drives the price up too. Sure they could sell us any old Batmobile for a couple hundred bucks... but this is the '89 Batmobile. The Batmobile to end all Batmobiles. I think it's safe to say that a lot of us grew up with this in mind whenever the Batmobile was mentioned. I just can't wait for them to add windshield wipers and release a Returns version of the Batmobile for the exact same price.

Batmobile.

Actually I think the Tumbler sold for $350. But the Tumbler is a very complex item with countless pieces that would make it both expensive to mold and assemble. The '89 Batmobile is a brick on wheels. Even factoring in increased labor and material costs, Hot Toys should be able to sell the '89 Batmobile for $400 and still turn a profit.

Actually I think the Tumbler sold for $350.

That was never the MSRP, but you could find some websites that offered a 33-35% discount since it was available through Diamond. That brought the price down closer to $350.

I want batmobile, Keaton....and Joker...but this will depends on Batmobile price...

With these rumours, I'm starting to think that I have to say bye to Jack...

i buyed batman 89, joker is possible that i will buy too, but the batmobile, if is true this rumor, i think that i won´t buy it.

$199 or no buy HT!!!

You people are weak! If only there were more strong people like me, HT prices would be fair.

Usually, the "take it or leave it" attitude doesn't go well with customers, but you guys let HT have your balls!

Or maybe they have left this business some time ago.... :dunno

While I agree that the '89 Batmobile is probably easier to manufacture than the Tumbler I wouldn't call it just a "brick on wheels". The Tumbler does have more panels and production parts but the '89 Batmobile isn't a walk in the park either.

I don't know, assembly wise it might be even. Has anyone seen the interior cockpit for the Batmobile? It's about as detailed as it gets with the steering wheel, dashboard instruments, etc. If I remember correctly the Tumbler wasn't as elaborate. It has a few green screen stickers and a couple of red buttons. I seem to recall complaints about the back wall of the interior having exposed wires and such. The most intricate thing in the cockpit are the seats and control yokes. Now compare that to the Batmobile interior and the difference is mind blowing. The hubcaps with the Bat insignia are also more elaborate on the Batmobile and the body of the vehicle is also much longer.

I'd say production wise they're about even. The Tumbler has one hell of a complicated exterior to manufacture with all the different parts/panels and rear. The Batmobile on the other hand has a fully detailed cockpit that could easily get botched in production.

If the rumors are true and the pop up machine guns are included then yeah, I'd say both vehicles are about even as far production goes.

I was using a bit of sarcasm in the post. With recent people saying ludicrous things like $800, I went the opposite. Realistically it should be the same price Tumbler was (even though it's a far less complicated vehicle).

Hope you're right...

I'm probably getting the car and putting my Billiken figures next to it. If it is indeed $800 MSRP, I'll be passing on the entire '89 line.

HT needs to quit looking at ebay and start acting responsibly as a company. Anything over $500 for a plastic car is simply confiscatory.
