1/6 Hot Toys - TMS 029 - The Mandalorian: Moff Gideon Collectible Figure

Toys Wonderland actually have a decent First Batch price for this, so I PO'd that with a 12 month installment plan, which I then used a rewards code on top of.

Also I'd love to see Giancarlo's reaction to this figure given how excited he was over the Black Series/Vintage Collection figures of him.

Feel like we should know more about the character and his ultimate importance before preordering.

Some of the sequel trilogy characters ended up not living up to the hype - Captain Phasma for example.

Again, there are various articles where Giancarlo has talked about his work on set. He's a main character.

Either this season or next. I can't afford not-main characters usually - making an exception for the Scout Trooper just to get the bike. But I like GianCarlo's take on this villain a lot, and the actor is indisputably awesome.

Tho agree there's something not quite right about the sculpt.

With all the latest nonsense about other seller TBA removing Hot Toys items from is site, i thought TW had gone the same route.

TW just doesnt use official HT photos anymore, which I think seems to be the main issue.

The individual features are there, but it still looks a bit generic to me for some reason. Kind of reminds me of their ANH Obi-Wan in that way.

Both the sculpt and the expression are a bit off. Something is off with the eyes, sculpt-wise. And as for the expression, this is just too neutral and bland. Esposito/Gideon has a go-to expression when he's looking his most annoyed, threatening, and evil, and that's what we should be getting with this figure.

Nice typical hot toys figure. Sculpt looks pretty good to me but I just don’t know.

The JC Hong photo looks better (as usual) and there are some promo shots where it looks pretty good, but from what I've seen so far it just feels off.

Not a fan of the character's look anyway. Too much of a cartoon vibe for me. Someone called him 'Vader Lite'

That's just personal taste though, I get why he's a fun figure and will look cool in the collection. Who knows, maybe it'll grow on me. That's happened before.

Yeah it feels to me like either the face isn't gaunt enough, or the features are way too pronounced. Not exactly sure what the problem is, all I know is that custom Gus Fring sculpt from a few weeks back completely blows it out of the water.

I could still probably live with it, since the overall look of the figure still works well, but I really hope they'll make some tweaks before release.

It's a combination of issues but the big one seems to be as you say, that the face is too full.

HT generally does great older gentlemen sculpts, so I have hope. Hopefully the sculpt won't come out too soft.

I believe he'll look great on the shelf. Not counting the endless troopers, and based on the show so far, I don't see me picking up anything other than Mando, Child, Fett and Gideon... which I think is a perfect minimalist display for the show so far.

Nothing really compelling yet. Tempted by Deluxe Mando and Grogu, but there are more down the road. I like the Scout and Speeder but I don't know that I want to give up the space for that. At this rate I won't get anything until 2024 when this show's forgotten.

Well, I said other than the endless troopers. Although I haven't purchased one yet. I thought I might get a new Death Trooper but I'm fine with the one I have from RO.

I certainly couldn't pass again on a Shoretrooper. And I desperately want the Mudtrooper with Tank Trooper helmet.

Hoping the Death Star Trooper shows up somewhere. Maybe when they reveal that Palpatine was constructing a 3rd Death Star somewhere secret.
