Stereotypes aside Herzog has such a quiet menace about him and the way he delivers lines with his accent just commands attention. I was really disappointed he didn’t last longer and play a bigger part in the show.

True, tho I think so far Giancarlo has just been wasted. 2 seasons in and essentially we know little about him, his motivations, or anything really.

Yeah, his character definitely isn’t fleshed out yet. I loved him in BB but he just doesn’t seem to fit well as a SW villain for me.

As much as I like the actor, Gideon was very underwhelming.

He's impressive as a 1/6 figure, and my Mando era Remnant needed a boss.

I guess I'll be the one to disagree a bit. I really liked Giancarlo as Moff Fring. He isn't going to replace Vader as a villain but I very much liked him as a post ROTJ bad guy. Herzog was great though too and I thought they really wasted his character. Clearly we haven't exactly seen the last of Gideon yet either.

Just please, please, PLEASE don't lead this show into the Sequel Trilogy. I don't care what lame wormhole excuse you have to make up Johnny, just don't do it!

Have to agree that we know nothing about Gideon, and so why would we care about his non-arc in "Mando":

* why would he even want the Darksaber? Did this guy seriously think he would survive for five minutes on Mandalore?

*did he and Bo-Katan have a prior beef? What was it?

*did he seriously think HE would benefit from any cloning research the Emperor wanted done? The Emperor would swat him like a fly for the temerity of such an idea

*did he think directly threatening a Mandalorian would end well? Mandos start training at seven years....? Where did Gideon train, ON A FARM?! sorry thats one of Neu Zod's greatest lines.....I dont see Imperial training as being on a par with Mandalorian, i mean

So much about this does not really make tons of sense when you think about it.

If it leads to the sequels it will be another waste. All the goodwill from the show will be gone for me and I would erase any trace of its existence from my collection. I enjoy the show, but if it’s a lead in for that trash, it’s dead to me.

I think even Herzog had more, and he had only one season. Now either his story wasn’t worth telling, which is possible (weak writing happens all the time) or else I don’t know.

I hope that's not what we get. I really hope they reworked that head sculpt before sending it to production, because I really want this character on my shelf, but if that's what they expect me to shell out money for, I'll have to pass.

I agree Gideon does need some more screen time and added background but he’s had at least twice as much screen time as the client but much less of an impactful performance for me.

What with his stylish cape (among other things) I'd think Lando's evil cousin is a tad more plausible lol...

I have to agree that Gideon was a bit bland for my tastes villain-wise. Great ornate outfit though, makes for a good doll. Kind of like OT Boba Fett -- did nothing, looks cool.

As for screen time being needed to make a good villain, I disagree. That dude that played the Imperial Commander who Mayfeld shot was so much more nasty in his single brief scene.

Few know how to do a villain you love to hate, better than Richard Brake does. I will go out on a limb here and say that I'd a hundred times rather have seen him as Gideon than the guy we got, which I'm not talking bad about Esposito but - Brake.... you just look at him and recoil, no one does slimy evil better than he does, in this time period we live in. That guy is terrifying.

Going back to Basil Fawlty and ProtocollD, his character's name was also quite on the nose as a 'big bad' from history. I don't think even Lucas was as outright as that with his inspiration for the Empire.

Gideon is a fantastic character! Watching S1 ep.8 he sets the tone of being in charge and practically takes Mando out for dead by destroying the eweb.
The story of how he comes to ownership of the Dark saber should be fleshed out, but overall I've enjoyed his screen time far more than character like Cobb Vanth could care less for the galactic sheriff pretty boy.
