I feel genuine sympathy for anyone who spent their money on the other figures, especially with Hot Toys using their mistake as part of their advertising for the figure.
With those side by side comparison pictures, they’re basically saying we finally perfected the figure and our other versions simply fell short…too bad we charged some suckers full price for them.
They need to allow the poor folks who funded the development of the real figure by buying the practice ones to send them back for trade credit to go toward the purchase of the new one.
They’d never do it, but that would be the only way to begin make it right.
While I understand the sentiment, with respect, that is a misread of the situation.
They absolutely don’t owe anyone anything. And saying so only caters to the most toxic and vocal people complaining about a choice they made as a (presumably) grown adult.
This figure should be viewed as a completely different representation of the character, following Din Djarin’s journey through Season 2. The Season 1 Beskar version has the accessories and and armor to represent the majority of Season 1, including the amazing finale.
Sure, the finishes are different. But this version does not automatically invalidate the last one. Every Iron Man armor or Batsuit does not invalidate the previous representation.
And with a publicly untested chrome plated finish, the S1 Beskar might last longer. Who knows.
As someone with the EFX helmet, ANOVOS helmet, Hot Toys Durasteel, S1 Beskar Deluxe in hand, and S2 version already pre-ordered, I will say this is a difficult armor finish to get absolutely right. But I don’t think the S1 Beskar Deluxe finish is bad at all in person.
No one who willingly bought the S1 Beskar version should feel disappointed in it compared to a figure that is far from materializing in production forum. It’s an excellent set with great accessories. Figure looks stunning set up.
Why should anyone out there feel cheated? That’s on them if they feel that way. A Season 2 version was teased. It was inevitable. If they’re diehard fans, they’ll keep both versions. If they’re only fair weather fans, then they should be less capricious and consider their purchases more carefully.
