Hot Toys - TMS051/2 - Mandalorian and Grogu (Season 2)

I'm leaning toward cancelling this set myself because I'm also not a fan of the weathering. Makes it look so cheap. But I'm also not willing to deface a nearly $400 figure to make it look right.
I don't care much about all the accessories as the damaged boba armor parts I wanted will come with Vanth.
But I really don't want to miss out on the sculpt though. They'll use that again, right? Hoping for a clean chrome mando with the sculpt and maybe not all the useless accessories.

It's such a shame they went with such heavy weathering. We shouldn't have to alter the figure in such a way to make it screen accurate.
I'm going to use OT_Customs_ method to tone the weathering down but I completely respect your decision not to try to change the figure yourself.
In terms of accessories, the only one you might miss would be the Beskar spear? I don't think that one will appear again.
I'd expect to see the headsculpt again on an inevitable season 3 Mando release but you can never be too sure with Hot Toys, but yeah, you'd think we'd get another headsculpt at some point.

It seems you get 2 in a pack, would that be enough to clean the entire figure?

Straight out the box, just standing there, this guy and that chrome look fantastic! Add all the poseability and gadget options, and the Pascal sculpt, all looks great. Makes this the definitive Mando (for me)
If they don't F him up S3, after Luke, he's become my favorite SW character, such a cool figure.

I don't care about the flight suit color. I prefer the dark grey as that's what you see in the show in certain scenes. As for the armor it shouldn't be weathered that heavy so it can be toned down a bit. Overall I'll be satisfied with this version if no changes are done in S3.

Although I hope he rejects whatever crown or armor comes with wielding the Darksaber, leaves Mandalor to them, and continues his lone wolf wandering as is.

I’m mostly easy to please. Weathering doesn’t bother me. I’ve decided I wanna buy 3 over the course of this year for an epic Mando shelf. One posed with all the gear, one posed unmasked, on posed with darksaber. Hopefully can find some cheap ones online of just the figure itself and use the accessories from the new one I buy on those.

I was originally going to sell my 1.0 Beskar Mando - but Im just going to keep it . This new version whilst looks cool just seems a little cheap looking especially that weathering , its a bit of a turn off. If they did a straight clean version I would reconsider ! Pedro Sculpt is cool .

I did sell my Beskar 1.0 but just because I pre-ordered this one ...now I know I shouldn't have done that .... The chrome clean armor was to good to be true

But I'm gonna try the 1/4 scale (if I'm going to repaint a mando then it's gonna be the big one)

I agree that the weathering is a let down. But I doubt that I will spend that much time viewing the figure this close. I think from a normal distance to my shelf it will look perfectly fine.
Plus it is the best version of Mando out there in my personal opinion. Screen inaccurate or not.
There will always be a better version sometime in the future. The question is if you are willing to wait or not.

V1 is OG. V2 has the best Grogu set (That's why I bought it). I only want another Mando if he will be in full beskar. But I don't think he will ever have.

Well he arrived. Lighting does indeed play a massive part on how heavy the weathering looks. Think I am going to reduce it bit tbh I doubt by much.

You just KNOW he’s going to get another power up. He does every season.

I don’t, not overall. But V2 had less weathering, a slightly more accurate flight suit, jetpack flame accessories, etc.

I think overall this is still an improvement. But not the slam dunk I hoped for.

Despite the weathering issue, surely the v2 Mando armour looks flat compared to the chrome on the v3?

I think the Right Thigh Armour plate doesnt look right , it looked more like a flat gunmetal to my eyes . But this one on the HT looks Chrome with heavy washes and weathering
