1,180 HK Dollars equals roughly $153 which means it'll probably hit for $159.99 from SSC. That's a definite buy for me.

Mike you really think it will come in that low?
Maybe the reason the likeness is so weak is because its not Evans, just a generic head? Only way I can see it being so cheap.
Add about $30. The direct conversion from HK prices to USD is never the amount we get here in the states. You have to add about $30-$50 onto the HK prices to get the price we'll get.

I imagine this figure being $180-$199.

Add another $20-40 and you're probably right

It's more of a "cross your fingers" hope it'd come in that low but as quoted I'm fully expecting this to ring in at $189.99. Anything higher is a head scratcher really but who knows with HT pricing recently.

The cowl still looks slightly off color, compared to the shirt.

I'd like to have this...but I'll have to wait and see about price and availability.

Since this figure was shown, I've had an idea for getting rid of those pants in favor of something not so leotard like, and doing a body swap.

I really wish they had given him the knowing smirk that he had playing the cheesy hero in the film. Giving him a serious expression totally misses the point of why this costume even exists. It would have looked awesome with a grin, and his hands on hips like he was posing for a war bonds poster.

MEH......

Your avatar shows exactly how you feel. :rotfl

I added those to the first post. I wonder if the "hand painted" business is true or BS like with DX Joker. . .I will just assume it's a lie at this point until proven otherwise.

I haven't followed that.
What happened with the Joker figure?

Sorry. I have no idea what i'm looking at.
What was the problem with the Joker paint?
I never followed the Joker thread(No plans to get one), so i am ignorant of the specific issue.

Just dot patterns. Completely unnoticeable in-hand unless you are constantly wearing magnifying glasses. It's seriously a non-issue.

Sorry Cap but you don't have a cute smile, pointy finger and salute palm
I'll pass :(

So do people use that to say that none of the paint was done by hand?
Surely if even some of the paint is by hand, you can say: "Paint done by hand", even if it was just part of the ear, lol.

Hot Toys is using false advertising, and they obviously think it matters otherwise they wouldn't be using this to promote their work. Presumably, some collectors feel the same way. You personally may not care how the sausage is made but others might, and have a right to expect to get what they are told they are paying for IMO. But maybe username is right and they paint a dot on each ear or something.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS20X Toy Fairs EX - CA TFA: Captain America Star-spangled Man Versio

I agree about the Rescue Capt sculpt....
....But you are comparing production head (Rescue Captain) and Prototype head (Brucie) there? They used an actual production version for those Capt pics.
It was ready very early on..
Wait until the production version of Bruce hits and you will see it get all soft and shiny vinyl looking too...
That's a good point, Rorywan; I had forgotten the official photos of last year's exclusives were actual final product - not prototypes. Bruce probably won't look that good, but I don't think he'll look as Ken-Doll-esque as Rescue Captain America, either. Case in point, final product of Coulson didn't look nearly as soft/shiny/vinyl looking:

I love that they made this version. I love the details like Cap's cheat sheets on the back of the shield for the lyrics.

I hate the unnatural forehead seam, it should look like a piece of sewn on fabric over top, not a plastic piece that juts out. I hate that this figure doesn't have swap out mouth plates for a smiling version when it should. I hate that it doesn't have the salute hand.

Overall, great idea, poor execution. I know it's "just a barebones exclusive", but I think they could have put a little more work into it to make it better. How hard would it have been to give him a lower face with the grin or smile? He never really seems to brood when he's out there in the audience or in the advertisements. The salute and pointing "I Want YOU" hands should have been a no brainer as well.

:exactly: Hence, easy pass. :(

I would have loved a half smirk "DreamWorks face" to go with a pointed finger. I think it would have went well with the figure since even in the movie Rogers didn't take his time in that suit very seriously.

Not "Look Like" fabric, apart from the eye mask, they should have used real fabric for the mask. Even if its slightly droopey on the sides, that would look much better.

I think this will end up being $210. Reason being that it's an ex, so both HT & SSC know they can charge a little more than what should be a $190 or less figure. They know they can't charge $220 because the costume is not as intricate as the Rescue version nor is there a full hs. Going by the fact that the Rescue version is still available, this will have a smaller production run but the stock will probably sit until maybe March of next year. This is all speculation on my part. If Rescue Cap is still available by the end of this year, SSC should offer a bundle of the 2 figures for $320.

SS can charge what they want. But if they want to actually sell out this figure rather than have them sit in their warehouse just LIKE last year's EX's then they better price them better. It's up to them. No way is this figure worth more than $190
