Their Chris Evans headsculpts get worse with every new release. I'm not sure they're even trying anymore.

Looks a bit more accurate than rescue to my eye (which is still an awesome sculpt), but to each their own. However, the big pic makes me think they could have done similair to the batman figures and done a faceplate on this one. One for the smiling crowd and one a little more stern.

Rescue Captain America would have been an awesome sculpt if it was released in 2007, but by 2012 standards it's really bad in my opinion; not only does it look like no one but it's so plastic/ken-doll-esque in finish. Now THIS is an awesome head sculpt:

That's really nice. I think Russell Crowe's sculpt is pretty nice too. I'm avoiding that thread since I haven't seen the movie though :lol

I have all the HT CA figures, & agree, they are ok sculpts, but they don't really represent Chris Evans as good as I'd want. Same as the RDJ sculpts.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS20X Toy Fairs EX - CA TFA: Captain America Star-spangled Man Versio

New pics tempted me I won't lie but having sold my Rescue version I can no longer do the 'Evolution of Cap' display I was planning so can happily still pass :)

I think maybe I might have passed on this also, if I was missing even one of the other HT CA figures.

What an incredibly sloppy reveal of a figure? mixing the old proto head with the new production head, these are not the same..

I agree about the Rescue Capt sculpt....
....But you are comparing production head (Rescue Captain) and Prototype head (Brucie) there? They used an actual production version for those Capt pics.
It was ready very early on..
Wait until the production version of Bruce hits and you will see it get all soft and shiny vinyl looking too...

Looked to me like there are two different sculpts, as well. Look at the side of his mask.

Yup 100%.
And the worst thing is that new head looks like a reused Rescue Captain head sculpt. Totally the wrong expression for this release. Where's the cocky smile?

My guess would be that newer one, but. . . :dunno Looks more like Evans to me, but at the same time it isn't as aesthetically pleasing as the more rounded looking head of what I guess is the earlier version.

I guess Hot Toys took some lessons from Sideshow's new Vader reveal :lol

I'm in the dark as to how SDCC exclusives are released. Do they go up for pre-order once Con starts and are released months down the road or should these be ready to ship out immediately?

Excuse my ignorance guys. :dunno

If its the new one, I'm gonna pass...

Despite what some here are saying, I actually see Evans in the proto sculpt. I just re watched the movie last night, and there are a few frames where the proto looks like Evans.

The new version? Nope. NOT AT ALL. On top of that, the head looks all kinds of weird. The proto cowl actually looks like fabric.

Damn...what the hell man??

How it's been done in the past is that there is a day for Attendees and a day for Non-Attendees to pre-order. They are usually up before SDCC this way attendees can get all their paperwork ready for pick up. Good or bad Non-Attendees sometimes get their pieces before SDCC starts.

I haven't been keeping up with these year's exclusives or when they will be available, however.

This is going to look good using the captain Action Captain America sheild...the sheild itself has a glossy shine and is comparible to a hot toys sheild (just slap on the HT sheild straps, maybe paint the underneath Silver (or leave it brown)
