OK so I was curious (and maybe a little bored). I was wondering how big this thing is. And with it being alone in a case, I needed a frame of reference. So I took the image of Indy that has the label in front of the figure. I then scaled it in my drafting program to the correct 12" height. I used the map room figure because he is standing straight up. I then scale the image of the Monger that has the label in front also to the same size. Based on the fonts of the display cabinets being the same size, I have him standing in the case at 16" give or take. Big figure, but I wouldn't think too big to produce.

I would be ok with a 16" iron monger, it will still tower over Iron man and thats the main thing.

hopefully they fix his short legs, with his hands to his sides, he could almost grab his ankles without leaning over.

Isn't it possible that this Iron Monger is just a 10th anniversary glimpse of what-might-have-been? As opposed to a proof-of-concept that they intend to put into production?

The fact that it's unpainted & resembles a resin prototype suggests to me that it may remain that way.

Not to bum out the folks on this thread! Just speculating---collector's hopes for this figure have risen and fallen like the tides since the first IM in '08.

Did Sensei Eddie Wong confirm or deny if this ever gets produced?

Very good point.

I would be surprised if this were the case, but it could be a very real possibility. Not as if they only had HT production pieces on display. Lots of customs and dioramas too.

Could be but I am thinking this is that big Iron Man project HT mentioned working on earlier this year.

Based on this picture and what little we see of the Iron Monger one could get a better estimate using the case and Yuli as reference :D

Holly damn case is likely about 2.5'-3' tall
Iron Mongers claws being just below mid height of the figure

BTW I love the lighting of the cases, gotto go grab me some white acrylic to see if I can copy this idea even though I really have no space for this

I still have to ask what changed from HT's original statement posted in various places that it'd be too cost effective to produce? Maybe they are just going to stick it out at $400 for example and just see who would want it?

The odds are higher that since this is an expo its a "what could have been" and I'm not getting excited until I see an solicit.

Wow...so the the squat look was just photography angles. This thing would be huge and impressive although I'm still not holding my breath.

I think HT should be smart enough not to just stir up ____ by teasing us with a proto that will never be made. It may take a long time to finally release it and reach goals of quality and margin (aka Tumbler) but release they will ones they it off to the public in such a fashion

btw did some rough sizing but someone go figure the actual dimensions :p

haha Centrocal we had the same idea though I had a bit more of a tough time :p
Heck there must be more collectors over in Japan that took pictures?????????? They should have hosted it here in North America or at least Hk where ppl would have appreciated it and filled up all that space and bought all of those exclusives :borg:

BTW Yuli is hot and taller than those boys in her heels (my wife dont read this forum :lol)

I am thinking that it will be in the $400+ range. As to being cost effective, the market has changed, they are constantly increasing the costs of their figures, with the limited accessory Berserker coming in at $195, yet the market seems to absorb the cost increasses. Maybe the market has turned to make this possible.

From a business perspective if HT makes 50% margin on these items, it would be smarter to sell the more expensive figures, if the market can will buy them. 50% of a $400 figure is more than 50% of a $200 figure even if volume declined 20%.

Nice. As cool as an opening figure would be, I hope they keep it simple so I can afford it. If its really complex it will be reflected in the price Im sure. Hope they can get a finish close to the original.

I have a feeling that Obi was dropped. Realistically the design of Iron Monger isn't made for someone to fit inside. The design of the waist and hip joints are impossible for a human to actually fit in. So HT would have to go the Bomber Toys angle where they would create a TT that split at the waist to fit inside or lose it. Making it one solid Plastic piece that doesn't worry about an opening cockpit and all of that detail, makes it more like a standard Mark and definitely in the realm of happening. The price still will be in the Batpod spectrum I think

Yeah those hips are a tough articulation sell for having some one in it. Well I hope they wait till the end of next year to release this. To much crap coming out.
