The way it sounds...the guy normally paid but forgot in this case. I mean seriously...if it were me, I would say put the fire out and charge me the 75.00 and any penalty I need to pay. Short of that...put the fire out and charge me the entire cost and we hash it out later. I have seen and read zero justification for a trained and equipped group of people to stand by as a person's home burns to the ground...for any reason.

Sorry, but I really like the insurance metaphor... we all know if we don't pay it we won't have the coverage. that's the bottom line of all this right/wrong debate. all the moral obligation and shat is just stoopid.. :cuckoo:

All the high and mighty... "I'd do whatever because that's what's right and what I think God would want me to do" is crap..... all talk..:lecture how many daily "wrongs" do you pass by without doing anything??

Funny chosen morals...:lol

Its just tough interwebz talk. Well, not just interwebz, but you hear it all the time. "If I was there I would have.....", blah blah blah. 99% of the people would have stood there and watched it burn, regardless of what they like to say or want to believe they would have done. Fear, rational or irrational, will win every time when it comes to people and their tough save the day talk.

Am I gonna run into a burning house to save an animal? Hell no! I don't wanna die in a fire, that would suck ass! I'm okay with admitting my own cowardice and fear of pain and/or death. Most people aren't.

like i said earlier. this same situation happened around here. FD came and they realized it was out of their jurisdiction so they couldn't do anything but watch even though they were there and had all the equipment. morals have nothing to do with it. it's all rules and red tape.

I just told two fat people who thought they could use my hotel's parking lot and bathroom to get the ____ out. He said he stays at Hiltons all the time. I said, "You're not staying at this one."

He'll be contacting the corporate office in the morning. As well as his lawyer. Never has anyone ever been so rude to his Scion driving ass. My hotel security career is done for, and why?

I don't like to help people. Especially when they act like presumptuous, entitled _______s. :wink1:

Well, they can always do something. Forget saving the animals (I am a big animal person and love mine a ton) however as I said they can do things to try and save the structure. Without risking the lives or harm of the men/women involved.

I'm not sure about other states but here in Missouri. My Dad is obligated by law if we pass a car accident for him to stop (and he has) or he can lose his Paramedics license. Hell he's done this outside the state as well like when I was on vacation in Florida till those EMS/Fire folks got there.

Try dealing with trucker drivers everyday.

They live in a constant delusion of self entitlement. "I drive a truck, I make America run, there for everyone should bow down before me."....idiots :lol

Nothing pleases more than trampling all over that firm held belief :rock

Good Samaritanism isn't exacty the same when you have no choice.

Where did all this obligation come from???

He does it outside the state because thats why he choose this career. You do whats right when you have a chance. Also if you go into that career you make that choice (or obligation) to do something when called on.

:lol Because your first choice is moral obligation and self sacrifice and not job security and pay..:slap

He's not risking his job security or pay for helping someone outside the state. He's seen something that he has the skill set to help out with.

I know him well enough that if he drove by a car accident and no ambulance was there yet. He would be bothered about it forever if he didn't stop.

So you can laugh if you so choose of course.
