How do you feel about Hot Toys doing second runs of Vader, Chewie, Han and Obi-Wan?

Like my grandma used to say, "Every dollar you can save helps." And in this hobby, with prices for these figures at the $300 pricepoint, if I can save $20 here and there well... that's free shipping. It adds up. it really does. I have to cut every corner now just to get the few choice figures I want. Back when these things cost $60-$80 each it was no big loss if you missed a coupon code but now you have to resort to by hook or by crook just to stay in the game. And of course Hot Toys likes to ship everything at once so you have to make hard choices and cancel sometimes and by the time you have the money again it's sold out and selling for 3 times the price or more. These things aren't numbered so who cares about edition size? When we were kids, there was no such things as "limited editions" and "exclusives." Everybody could walk into a store at any given time and pretty much buy what they wanted. Now everything is controlled by greedy corporations and their marketing. Putting the fear of God into you that you have to buy it right away or you will miss your chance forever.

I never said I didn't do it. I'm a big coupon whore myself.

I don't mind the reissues but when HT starts Hasbro-fying with cheap plastic parts and throwing out the same crap is when it becomes do or die.

The HT ANH Luke was really pushing it quality of a 220 dollar figure. (The soft faced, dippy do haired head sculpt was literally just a click away from a sideshow product. No pun intended) The plastic belt and leggings was a let down as well.

HT has a cash cow with the SW license but i pray they don't get lazy and start putting out sub par and re-releases just because they can.
They need to realize that just because it says STAR WARS…that does not mean we HAVE to buy it.

Even with the glitch the figures are a lot cheaper than eBay prices

With the glitch or without the glitch?

As far as the belt, I'm not sure it's worse than the Bespin one, given that one had glue problems with most of the pouches. Plus even though the ANH pouches are plastic, they have more detail and weathering. I have Luke next to Ben, which has really nice leather parts, but the belt doesn't stand out as any cheaper than Ben's. Feet and leg wrappings I'll give you. My biggest beef with that figure is the tunic and the hair sculpt, which is far too perfect. The clean Bespin hair was much more realistic looking.

And as far as value with Luke, I think most people will say he was actually a great value given all the parts, even if nobody gives a crap about any of them. Ben was $10 cheaper and came with nothing but those nicer materials.

also, don't worry yourselves with scalpers. Ebay is the real one bending people over the barrel. Those who sell anything on the site will understand this comment.

They honored them last time and already took my money so I guess ill find out soon.
True, but how many glitches can they afford if they're losing $100 a figure? One guy said he bought 8 figures for US$63 each, I mean that's an obvious error that anyone would know is a mistake.

I don't even know why they need currency converters, you don't see Sideshow having that on their website. Looks like it is nothing but trouble at times.

Seriously there was nothing wrong with the ANH Luke, the negativity towards it has gotten ridiculous!

13% is not that much of a fee (ebay + paypal). If someone wanted to sell Han for 13% more than retail it would be $254. I'm guessing most of the buy it nows for Han on ebay are higher than that.

I am NOT for re issues , re runs etc. Part of what Il liked about HT was the limited nature of the run. I said it before, if they choose to do this the hobby is going to fall. While I do not sell my figures for profit, I do occasional sell the for new figure or different figures. If HT is going to follow this path the ability of these figs to hold value become mute. I think people will love this becuase they will be able to waffle forever about a run, well knowing that there will be tons of extra figure lying around.

The scalpers will just buy more up and sit on them, as they do with initial runs.

I collect these things because they are not common off the rack figures, but with re runs a new trend , they will become that way. Part of the reason I am willing to pay 250.00 a figure is the limited nature. I had a feeling this would happen with the seemingly endless supplies of Kylo Ren. If it continues, I will severely curtail my buying and only buy figure if they a quality level worthy of 250.00..... And honestly most HT releases are not worth that much now. The limited production was the only reason I would pay so much.

Anyone who thinks that HT prices will drop is smoking something.

Never buy toys for future resale value. If you do, you're throwing most of your money away. If you don't, then what do you care if there's 3 HT Vaders out there or 3,000,000?

I am not looking for them to gain value just maintain it. Hence the "collectable" in front of the figure. Limited runs are good for the hobby. Inknow they are mass produced, but possible never ending production just doesn't justify price for me.

I Think they are becoming more common all the time, hell you can buy HT on thinkgeek and amazon now.

In my 26 years of official collecting, I have never met another one of me in real life. I have never walked into someone's home and seen a detolf full of action figures. I do believe our breed is few and far between. I wouldn't worry too much about a reissue of some dolls. What are they gonna make -- another 5,000? Big deal.

Maybe the 2015 date on the original box will be worth more than the same figure with the 2016 date. I doubt any of these will be worth their original cost in 20 years, once Star Wars has been run into the ground by Disney.

I don't know anyone who collects sneakers either, but I see a **** load of people line up to pay 1K for a pair of shoes they'll never wear.
