Near enough every request on Hot Toy's FB page is for re-issues now, while eBay prices can get insane, i maintain if you want the character/figure enough you'll pay it, if not then you simply don't want it enough.

Since doing re-issues is there thing now i think HT should do 1-3 a year max and leave the rest for new figures, if they get too bogged down in remaking previous figures then longterm customers will have very little to buy from them and move on to a company that has more variety.

You're not seeing my point. Every company has a list of expected figures/busts/statues/props set to come out the next year. Most of them do it bi-quarterly so right now SSC is working on what they have planned to come out for the first quarter of 2013 if not the second as well. They do this to make sure they can get protos, licensing and all other things in line before it even makes it to manufacturing. So there is a list at HT right now dealing with what was approved in 2012 (already passed those hurdles) and I promise you that The Mark I 2.0 and probably The Joker DX 2.0 as well as the Tumbler were on that list in a numbered slot.

My point is that I believe through what we can see historically that HT is using re-releases within those slots as actual releases. So if they traditionally release about 30 figures across all licenses per year as a goal that those two were checked off as 2 of 30, which I have a problem with. Those two slots should be for new product and re-release and to some extent rehashes (2.0) product should not affect that general line but I'm sure if you went back to the releases out last year or the year before you'd see that within the general number release especially compared to license announced that they are certainly treating every product as "new" whether it theoretically should be or not including SDCC or Con repaints.

I understand you're saying about those slots, etc - but it's still just speculation. The year has just begun and there will be plenty of new announcements to come. All collectible companies have always worked in very mysterious ways for as long as I can remember. Sometimes it's best not to over intellectualize these things.

I didn't know about that, I'm not on facebook. Good to hear. I haven't got my Superman yet as I pushed my wallet too far last year on all my Terminator multiples, customs and kitbashes etc. I'm hoping the one I get will be alright. Really don't want a crooked S symbol.

You don't need to be a member of Facebook to read HT page, it's all open to the public. Check it out:

It's that sort of thing that actually discourages new people from buying into a line or starting in the first place. You can really want something and still not be willing to pay grossly inflated prices for it. HT rereleasing updated version of really popular figures gives others a chance to join the party for retail. And how is reissuing some figure "their thing" now... They have and will continue to make a lot more figures than Predators and Iron Man. Who really cares what HT (or any other company) do as long as they keep producing great figures at a reasonable price. You seem more worried about what you think you haven't got more than what you actually have so far. Sounds like you have paid a lot more than retail for figures and now feel cheated, but it was worth it to you then, so it should still be now. Unless you bought it as a silly investment or status symbol. Those are the only people I hear complaining... None of this stuff has anything to do with the enjoyment and expansion of the hobby, so put the crystal ball away...

And what other 1/6 company that produces movie figures has anywhere near as much diversity as HT? Name one! :lol

1. That same point is precisely the thing that stops people from starting a new line, except they don't start the new line cos they know HT is inclinced to leave it after two figures.

2. Not just the recent remakes, but 90% of figures from their announced lincenses for the rest of 2012-2013 will comprise of characters that have already been made, therefore only 10% of figures will be new characters.

3. By this logic if they made an improved MK 1 then followed that with a improved MK 1 succeeded by an Improved MK 1 - see where i'm going with? they'd still be making great figures, but it's the same figures over and over, just dioe better each time.

4. And finally it does have an effect on the expansion of the hobby, if certain licenses are overproduced while many other underproduced it creates an imbalence of customers, customers whose favourite licenses aren't getting many figures will move on as there isn't much but the same licenses to interest them, and many customers of those select overproduced licenses will grow tired at the remakes of figures they've already bought. Secondly although we don't know how HT work, with each of these remakes being announced they take production time in the factories to make them, and since new licenses announced mid-last year still haven't started it's safe to assume that it's production time taken away from those licenses, thus it's slows down the production of new licenses and franchise that expand the fanbase to new customers and changing collecting habits of its core customers.

It's always the worst case scenario with you... Why collect anything from them if you see things that way!? Go and buy all your movie stuff from NECA. Problem solved...

Actually,i would be surprised if we see anything else than Batman and Avengers this year.Keaton Batman with supporting characters plus Avengers and TDKR in 1/6 and 1/4,Batmobile and Tumbler plus re-issues in the middle of all of this.

Huh??

That's like saying "Name one iPod company that makes more mp3 players than Apple."

Nobody wants figures from anyone other than HT.

I look at the Enterbay Scarface thread, and it's got some who are like "Yeah, awesome!" and other who are like "Meh, it's not an HT figure". . . Triad's Zorro thread "Meh, I wish it was HT". Even the Indy thread for the longest time was "I want HT to get the license".

When other companies try to provide variety, it's met with nothing but "Meh, I wish HT would've gotten the license"

And when they do, in many cases, they're not supported by the fans. PotA, HellBoy, Indy (which was HT's fault), etc. Bunch'a fairweather flakes. :lol

i'm being realistic, remakes can't work as long-term strategy, and i'll shop wherever i want, i've probably been following HT longer than you, how'd you know?

I've lost a lot of interest in HT since they started re-releasing everything.
I used to cancel everything else before a HT figure if funds were tight but now it's the first thing to go.
In fact, I've stopped preordering HT figures all together. If I have the money when they come out, great. If not, I'll either pass altogether or pick it up on the next release.

i don't mind them redoing figures or re-releasing them if there better version than the first..it also kills the business of the ones who are recasting figures..we have seen them on ebay .but also if they can redo some of the ones that the rubber on the figure was questionable. rocky ,rambo,Robo cop if this improves great..But truthfully i have not been so excited for stuff that has come out.if i have the money to buy it great! But i don't mind saving my money either..

I'm only interested in them making new stuff that they announced but haven't shown yet - X-Men: First Class, for one example.

Not interested in rereleases or 50 versions of the same character. I want more of a variety of characters from a license, and when an license is announced, I'd like to see a figure of it before I die of old age.

I buy less HT stuff than I used to because I can no longer afford it, but with the rate the company is going, even once I get to a place where I can afford to buy more, I won't be buying much of anything.

If they're going to pump these out with re-release upon re-release than they should take out the "limited edition" in the announcements and advertisements and knock the prices down a bit.

Everyone knows that the more you make, the less expensive it becomes. That's production. Take off limited edition and make them more affordable (the QC will suffer but it's not like that matters, GOTTA HAVE it, right?) and then you can cater to everyone who has "missed out".

Supply and demand right? Just saturate that market. Then when all the people that complained that they missed out want the "newest" thing, they'll try and sell the figure that they just had to have until they find out the boards and ebay are FULL of them. Then what? They can't afford the new product because they can't sell the "old one" and Hot Toys misses out. Multiply that by the majority of collectors who will undoubtedly do the same and Hot Toys will be finished.

Just had a look at the box for my 2in1 Superman. It says ''Collector's Edition''. If I wanted the non-collectors edition - where could I find that?
