It's the 8th season of How I Met Your Mother and besides for the comedy antics of the gang, the character Ted Mosby is still the main reason I keep watching the show.

And thanks to actor Josh Radnor, last night's episode "The Time Travelers" had me in tears and reminded me how Ted is still the heart of the show. Definitely one of my favourite episodes.

I wouldn't call Ted the worst character on the show, but I agree he's the least funny. But someone has to play the straight man. Kind of like Leonard on Big Bang Theory.

I'm a year or 2 behind on this show. Can never watch it on a week to week basis but when I get the discs on Netflix or streaming I watch a whole season in like 4 days.

They could have made Ted a better character if they knew the show's arc before the got started. But the delaying of the end year after year causes his character to meander, and whine about wanting to meet 'the one'... he just got tiresome.

I love this show particularly for its continuity and all the in-jokes that run throughout the entire series. These guys really knew what that were doing when they put the whole thing together.

I love How I Met Your Mother. I've seen every episode and I've been following it regularly since the beginning of season 7. The continuity between episodes and seasons is impressive for a sitcom.

This is one of those shows that has been consistent since the beginning. I also like the continuity between episodes and seasons. It's nice to have a show that really hasn't changed much since the beginning. I just can't stand Stella or Lily's father so I'm happy they don't bring those characters in very much anymore.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Season 9 Will Take Place Over the Course of One Weekend | Collider (SPOILERS, if you have not seen the season 8 finale)
As soon as they revealed the character during the season finale, I knew she looked familiar. It's later I found out that I remember her from 30 Rock.

Curious to see how this entire weekend storyline across 24 episodes will pan out. I was hoping we would get to see Ted and her relationship develop across several weeks if not for months.

This show went down the toilet after season 3. Really was hard for me because I really loved it. Now everyone just acts so ridiculous and over the top. I can't believe it's still on.

While that would probably make for a more satisfying show, I never expected them to do this. The show is called "How I Met Your Mother", not "How I Met, Dated, and Married Your Mother".

Still didn't need 9 seasons to do this...

Couldn't agree with you more. I think it should have ended at least 2 seasons ago. Sometimes I watch season 1-3 and pretend that's it.

Still dig the show. It as a whole is still pretty good but they've reached the end and you can tell. I don't know how they're going to make a season out of one weekend though.

I still enjoy this show. Yeah, it's not as great as the earlier seasons, but it's still a lot better than most of the sitcoms on now. And it's been on for 9 seasons because of the ratings not because that's how long it's taken to tell the story.

I completely agree with you. I really liked the first few seasons but Season 6 turned me off from the series.

Yep.

Sure, I agree the earlier seasons were best. But like you said, a weak version of HIMYM is still better than most network sitcoms.

But yeah, I think CBS had them continue on past where the writers would have liked to have wrapped things up. It seems this was likely to be the last season, but got extended due its rating$.

Time flies, i just realized how long ive been watching this show. They were so much different looking when they were young
