how many hot toys do you buy?

Usually one or two, at most.

I have 4 HT figures total ... DX Joker, DX Batman, Harvey Dent and BR Joker. I have two non-HT figures ... EB Jack Bauer and SS Indiana Jones.

None on pre-order. Awaiting DX Superman pre-order, though ... and I'm thinking about picking up a Leonidas if I can find it at the right price. Other than that, I'm good to go until they release a high-quality John McClane, Jason Bourne, Maximus, William Wallace, James Bond (Craig), Tony Almeida, or "The Unit" line.

If they make a figure of a character I care about, I'll generally try to pick it up. it's got nothing to do with HT in general. In fact, i usually cringe whenever hot toys gets a license i like, because it means 1 of two things.

1. they'll put the character in a rubber suit and screw up his articulation/ use a rubber body same result.

or

2. they'll do an outstandingly stellar job and i'll go crazy trying to find the money for it, finally buy it, only to have a superior version come out at a later date. ( Bradon Roth Superman, some of the Predators, Joker, etc)

I don't buy duplicates. I'm a "one and done" kinda guy.

I would say between 1 - 5. I began collecting a year ago, I believe, and so far I have 6. This includes three older figures that I chased down. I would say then that in a year I'm probably only truly interested in about three new figures, that'll probably be my yearly average. I think that's reasonable.

Bingo. Same thing for me. In 2008 I think I spent around $4000-$5000 on collectibles, HT's being the majority. I haven't spent even half of that the past 2 years.

I thought I am the subdued one but seems like I'm at the upper half of the poll... 11 so far this year. Last one being Arnie T-800 back in early June. Have Iron Man MarkIV and Warmachine on order for the longest of times... and seriously considering T-1000 & Platoon Taylor.

i know what you mean about mark IV and warmachine
i have had them on pre-order since the beginning of June
they where the first hot toys i paid for and probably one of the last i will receive.
