Re: New forum rule

Dave, I know you have back tracked on the keeping headsculpts public issue, but I was going to suggest maybe utilising groups?

The creator makes a thread showing their piece, an interested member pm's the artist, the artist then replies with a PM featuring a link to a group. This would be the interest group where all the discussion in the world could go on about a piece.

However, would it work? It seems like it could just be the same as just posting in the forums only slightly behind, a few levels down...

Managing that many user groups would probably pose a problem also...

The custom section could then purely be a place for people to share photos, details etc on the customs. No unnecessary interest threads, and all that.

Might also eliminate the need to up the PM limit.

wait now...let me get this straight... the customizers (sculptors, painters etc.) can post and sell their work here, the threads that already have comissions in them and were before you activated this role will still play out as in the equilibrium threads (which were before you stated the role) people will get the things they have, paid for or planning to correct?

Re: New forum rule

^ That's actually not a bad idea. That really discourages the lookie-loos who only show up for drama.

Correct. :D

Nothing in the custom forum right now needs to change aside from specific cases where I've already contacted the posters.

Re: New forum rule

How about a rule that the guy who atually starts the commission gets his head before anyone on ebay or anyone else on the forum? Its only one name. Doesn't take a lot of record keeping or anything.

Re: New forum rule

How does that stop all the irrelevant interest threads though?
It wouldn't I suppose. The mods would have to delete them? If someone wanted to show their interest they'd have to use PM's to communicate with the artists. I'm sure the law abiding freaks would follow this rule!

Re: New forum rule

I know I haven't been here as long as some, dark artist for example, but I for one think the customs section is fantastic! It really is great seeing and having the oppurtunity to buy all the fantastic creations that people make!

This is seriously going to impact 1/6 custom commission pieces. I for one can say that nearly every custom I've done has been though the "is there enough interest" proposals. I understand the need to enforce rules, but I also think Z is going an impressive job of taking deposits first & creating some masterful pieces.

I prefer this site for the community & it's impressive support. I really think this is gonna hurt the entire custom community.

Re: New forum rule

I think this is similar to Statue Forum's new rules implemented this year. must deal through pm's

Re: New forum rule

To be fair, no offense, is that necessarily a good thing?

Gekko

Absolutely. I don't think there needs to be 200 some odd "Group Commission for Sculptor A to do Character B" threads in every forum. Especially when there isn't even a sculptor attached. The wish list threads just got out of hand, which is what I think might have been a contributing factor to the CH situation. Rather than waste the time on things like that, it takes considerably less time to just PM the sculptor and ask and then have the patience to wait for a reply.

Nothing is stopping people from showing their finished customs.

One thread showing a great custom that someone has put together for their own enjoyment beats 1000 threads of "wouldn't you like to see {insert obscure 70s TV actor here} as a sculpt?"

Well it's not much about the new rule but i wanted to say one thing.
Once i will finsihed the last stuff i have to finish for people here. I will not do anymore commission stuff for people here.
I will still make some private commission for some guys who have become friends but not for everybody.
The freaks board was for me a place to show stuff and to laugh and talk with people.
Now i think it's all about negativism and hate. SO For the moment I don't like to stay here.

SO will finish the stuff i have to finish but that's about it.

Sorry for the bad english. lol

Its really sad to think of all of the countless customs that have changed hands on this board and its coming to an end because of people reacting to one member who couldn't put the brakes on.

When I worked in retail we had customer service seminars. People who had a positive experience were likely to tell 2 people. People who had a negative experience were likely to tell ten.
Maybe its for the best if we go back to a place where we only get what the companies offer.

Oh i have no problem with anyone here. I have been working with many great guys and never have any problem. It's just that i don't like this board as much as i used to due to all of those problems who showed off recently.

And some people really shoudl understand that for most of us, it's not a full time job but i do agree that a timeline is better and keep constant update with the guy who ordered something is the key.

I am sorry to hear about your bad experience, Seb. I hope you continue to show your amazing customs and I am sure I speak for the majority of the people here that you are one of the most talented people on this board. Your customs are amazig and I am happy to have two them in my collection. :rock

That's the sad thing about it. Seems people are not understanding what's actually being said vs. how they're perceiving it.

Of course, blatant recasting threads like this don't help matters:
Not sure if it would be called "Group Commission", but I was going to make resin casts of the predator helms i have and sell them here...
