Re: HT Batman Begins - Batman/Wayne TF Ex. SSC PREORDERS in AUGUST (or later)

The lighting in some of these pics are giving me a Willem Dafoe vibe. :lol

It's one of the muppets.

Pffft I still want it :D

Re: HT Batman Begins - Batman/Wayne TF Ex. SSC PREORDERS in AUGUST (or later)

The lighting in these pics are about as bad as the lighting in the Headplay pics. Lots of Headplay's sculpts look good in hand but the lighting that Headplay uses really washes out the detail and how good some of the sculpts look

Re: HT Batman Begins - Batman/Wayne TF Ex. SSC PREORDERS in AUGUST (or later)

This Bale sculpt and paint is still light years ahead of any of the previous ones and that's even with the bad lighting.

yea ..even thought I said the head in the first page pics looked better I realised I don't really care since I won't even use the bale head :peace

Yea I don't think I'll be using the Bale sculpt at least not on the Begins figure. I'd like to put it on my DX with the backpack for the HK scene

Same here, I think most are going to go this route.

Re: HT Batman Begins - Batman/Wayne TF Ex. SSC PREORDERS in AUGUST (or later)

"Maglorish" :slap :lol

I think that both this and the Dark Knight BW head are undersized. Two face head is (very) undersized. Marcus Wright is (a little) undersized. Even my favorite figure this year (Jack Sparrow) has a smallish head. There are other examples.

I have a hard time saying what's worse, too big, or too small. A big head can look oafish, no doubt. But often clothes can be futzed to bring a large head in scale (see MarfMaster's Firefly custom).

As I've said, I'm not really worried about this head as I think it will look fine on my Takara. But I will say I am very happy with my custom BW head from Adam as the scale looks perfect on a suited body.

Re: HT Batman Begins - Batman/Wayne TF Ex. SSC PREORDERS in AUGUST (or later)

WTF does the suit matter?

We don't pose our figures nude. The head needs to account for 1:1 fabric posing as 1:6 clothes.

If the clothing is in scale to the body, the head will be fine. I know common sense ain't that common, but at least try to use it. :lol

It's impossible for clothing to truly be "in scale" with any 1:6 body. For it to be possible they would need to use impossibly thin fabric.

You're just reaching now, Maglor. :tap

:pfft: :lol :wave

[Edit]

Exactly. Usually a head should look slightly oversized on a nude TT, since layers of clothes (that aren't 1:6 scale) will make the body bigger at the end, which the headsize has to compensate for.

Damn, agonistes beat me too it. :banghead :goodpost:

I'm not even an advocate for the sculpt being too small (the head looks great on the DX Batman, like a posted a couple of pages ago). On the new body it looks too small though, and I agree with you that it's partly because the body is too big. However, that doesn't mean that the head is perfectly sized.
What I posted is just an observation I've made over the years. It's the same with long necks. On a nude body a neck can look too long, but after layers of clothes it looks perfect, since that's the right context it should be viewed in.

:exactly:

The more in hand photos that come along, the more goofy this figure looks.

Not saying that's how it actually is, but other than the original spec/pics I haven't seen a "money shot". I don't know if the head is too small or the body is too big, I don't care, it just doesn't look right.

The Bale head before looked phenomenal, now he looks like a bird. I don't know not feeling it anymore.

Not impossibly thin. Kato's fabric is perfect.

Re: HT Batman Begins - Batman/Wayne TF Ex. SSC PREORDERS in AUGUST (or later)

it isn't simply how thin the fabric is, but more importantly the weight of the fabric. design is all about the hang.
