Wow! :clap

This is perfect! I so wished that Kato would be roped in by HT for the 2.0. Already own Kato's interrogation outfit but sadly couldn't afford the sports blazer and the overcoat. Really really wished for a nice overcoat this time. And here we have it. :yess:

And the Shoes! :rock2

It's too rough looking for a small scale regardless how it feels in your hand. You're not supposed to see a texture from a distance. The smoothness is supposed to wash out to your eyes, until you're right up close to it.

Jack's Joker was nailed in that department.

Even tho I freakin' love Kato's work I can't disagree.
Previous DX's coat was pretty bad looking bcuz of the rough purple material and custom one from Kato wasn't better :monkey2

Really hope that this will not happen with DX2.0

the people who have the original kato outfit are still going to have the best joker outfit there is.jc hong[I think that is his name]does the painting for hot toys,if you buy a hot toys figure its not actually painted by him,its based on his paint apps,of course his actual prototypes that he hand painted are gonna be better.same goes for the origional kato outfit.

And what do you fine connaisseurs of men's fashion want next? A Windsor Dobby weave shirt with working cuff buttons? Would that be enough? Or a pair of custom-made alligator Zegna shoes with opossum-skin laces maybe? Would that do?

"Too rough"...give me (and mostly Kato) an effin' break already.

First off - Congrats to Kato and thank you to Viod for helping get this work of art exposure that we can now all own it.

To those laughing at the owners of the custom suits... Really?

You can buy a designer suit off of the rack, but to own one hand made by the designer himself... There is a diference to those who care.

I say congrats to the hand made owners and thanks to your enthusiasm - Now we all get a shot at something almost as good.

And about the socks... I do :lol at the whole thing.

BUT: They are on screen for 2 seconds... Ok - but if Hot Toys is going through the trouble of making unnecessary socks then they could at least look correct.

And second - Get the old Movie Masters figure if you don't care about accuracy. If I'm paying $200 plus for a figure it would be nice for them to pay attention to the details.

How is it a middle finger to the customizers? Those who have his handmade suit will have original work from him, those that get HT's will get HT's best attempt at replicating that work via their factories.

It's a win-win for everyone really.

You might want to stop and think that one through. If it were not for customizers that you are blessing with your "fantastic middle finger", this would not be happening. The fact that you will have this thing in hand at HT prices is directly thanks to them.

*sigh.

HT is giving the middle fingers to customizers is how it reads. How? Simple. Since Kato started making his Joker clothes, people have been posting on HT's pages or wherever else about not only HT's inconsistencies with the product but how much better Kato's stuff looks. So HT simply went out and got Kato for a Joker. The middle finger comes to the fact that in a mass produced items this Kato piece will be infinitely cheaper than getting on directly custom made with his eye for detail and his input on how it should look.

Now some won't care but it's hilarious to the point that I remember about a year ago people posting they paid over $1000 for stuff because they wanted the best, HT went out and got the best for their own product which kills that market for this one particular piece. Why would I pay hundreds upon hundreds for a custom when HT is bring that kind of quality for less?

Jesus Christ some of you need to remove the stick from your ***** about this, it was just some good natured ribbing at the fact that HT actually went out and got Kato as a way to make money off of what looks to be the same type of figure with a few upgrades beyond the actual clothing.

I don't find it hilarious, I find it pretty cool! And it proves that the best customs are in fact pushing the boundaries of the 1/6 hobby in general, and are not simply an 'overpriced niche market' for the OCD collectors as many have claimed on these boards over the years.

At the same time those who care for hand made originals will always pay the premium for it be it for a handpainted sculpt or handmade piece of clothing - it's like any art - that niche isn't going to die.

I posted a few weeks back that it was my opinion that the Joker 2.0 was as much about cashing in on the super-inflated aftermarket prices for the DX01 as it will be about some ego-padding versus the customs that have blown the original DX01 away.

That has proved to be the case.

If it's not the owners of the original custom suit complaining, who cares? Why are people who DON'T have the custom suit taking such offense to Kato joing HT for this?

I don't buy customs. I don't really care about anything but getting figures I want, with the best quality possible. And if Kato teaming up with HT gets me a better suit for Joker 2.0, GREAT!

He's widely considered one of the best 1/6 scale tailors around. He and the woman Rainman works with are probably the two best I'm familiar with. The fact that Ledger Joker custom fans are some of the most OCD out there (I mean that in the best possible way :D ) but were apparently completely satisfied with Kato's work here speaks volumes.

Thanks and thank you also for the serious answer and not making me feel like an idiot for not knowing.

I don't think the DX 01 will plummet that low on the secondary market. Maybe it won't go for 500 dollars any more, but I can't see it falling below 300 or 250.

The v1 Joker still goes for more than it's original MSRP. v1 TDK Batman and the OC still go for a pretty penny and they have been "improved".

As long as the new release doesn't have,

- grenades
- cop/honor guard head
- cop/honor guard gear

I think it'll be fine. There's also the fact that it was/is the first DX figure. I'm sure that means something to collectors.

The only problem I can see is if someone bought that sucker at 500 dollars or something. Yeah you're probably not going to get that back. :lol

:lecture :lecture :lecture :lecture

BUT: They are on screen for 2 seconds... Ok - but if Hot Toys is going through the trouble of making unnecessary socks then they could at least look correct.

Like I said, it's not just about screen accuracy. The pastel colors of the stock socks just don't fit the color pallet and look ugly.

You wouldn't. And neither would I. But If we are getting the 2.0 and it's tailored by Kato, we have those that were willing to shell "hundreds upon hundreds" to thank.

i already have 2 jokers BR and interrogation with BR sculpt but i need more.
this will be much better than dx 1 but i still want both.
so if the dx 1 drops to 250 i'll be getting both.
or just 2 dx 2.0 figures.

See, people still want the DX01. :)

That's a logical association to make. So I guess while I'm laughing (I still do find it funny) I should give one of these to those beautiful customizers:

Good to see Kato is confirmed doing the outfit!

I'd be all over this if there wasn't a 1:4 version coming from Enterbay. I have never had a Ledger Joker figure. That's apalling really :lol

If i've learnt one thing in this hobby it's that you can expect anything, if someone told me we would get 2 full ESB Luke figures in the same package, i'd be like "GEYT THE HEYLL OUTTA HEYARH" In an Arnie voice. The same goes for the Toy Fair OC Batman and now Kato working on a Joker figure purely because his clothes are amazing.

Anything can happen, always buy with that in mind I say!
