I will probably trade up... this looks better already, I am just still a bit annoyed at HT's for their redo tactics as of late... wish they would just get it right the first time and not announce that the DX01 was to be their last version of TDK Joker... anybody remember that??

I am sure I will be totally blasted for this question. I am still fairly new to 1/6 collecting so excuse my ignorance. But who exactly is Kato and what is he to the 1/6 collecting world??? I have gathered that he does customs. But it seems he is like a god on these boards. LOL
He's widely considered one of the best 1/6 scale tailors around. He and the woman Rainman works with are probably the two best I'm familiar with. The fact that Ledger Joker custom fans are some of the most OCD out there (I mean that in the best possible way
) but were apparently completely satisfied with Kato's work here speaks volumes.

Well this is going to be interesting. I want to see the headsculpt(s) before I consider selling on my DX01 though. (accepting that after a full reveal of 2.0 I won't get as much money for it)

I'm laughing so hard at the fact that Hot Toys got Kato to do the suit, will put it out for a fraction of the price that people paid for his custom stuff. Fantastic middle finger to the customizers who were _____ing earliest their pages!
You might want to stop and think that one through. If it were not for customizers that you are blessing with your "fantastic middle finger", this would not be happening. The fact that you will have this thing in hand at HT prices is directly thanks to them.

Thats the kicker. Once the full figure is revealed, the value of the DX 01 will instantly nosedive. You pretty much have to gamble you'll like the 2.0 if you want to get the most money out of the 01.
I wouldnt worry about the price dropping a little......I don't think you will be able to give away a dx01 after this masterpiece of a 2.0 comes out. Maybe to a completest or a basher.

My prediction as well.
No intentions of ever selling my DX01. He will eventually go on a Heath dedicated shelf with the cop, BR, and nurse; while the 2.0 will be on a Nolan villain shelf.

Funny thing, the cop outfit and headsculpt may become the DX01's biggest asset now (assuming its not also redone with the 2.0)
Assuming this doesn't have the cop outfit, and very possibly not the grenade rig (as it would likely affect the aesthetics of Kato's coat), I think there will certainly still be value in the DX-01. But I do think it will drop a bit. The sculpt on the new figure will be a huge consideration, as well. If they do rooted hair, I think a large chunk of collectors will want the DX-01 sculpt to keep the sculpted hair, even if the likeness on the new guy is improved (I can only assume it will be).

I don't think the DX01 price will tank below its original value
Sure it'll come down from the ridiculous $500-600 level but don't see it dropping under $200 at all

I don't think the DX 01 will plummet that low on the secondary market. Maybe it won't go for 500 dollars any more, but I can't see it falling below 300 or 250.
The v1 Joker still goes for more than it's original MSRP. v1 TDK Batman and the OC still go for a pretty penny and they have been "improved".
As long as the new release doesn't have,
- grenades
- cop/honor guard head
- cop/honor guard gear
I think it'll be fine. There's also the fact that it was/is the first DX figure. I'm sure that means something to collectors.
The only problem I can see is if someone bought that sucker at 500 dollars or something. Yeah you're probably not going to get that back.

Just keep the old one, didn't it cost like 160? (hahah I simply jest, I know not everyone got this at retail). Anyways, another way to think of it - is that its money long spent anyways and you can just pose him in an alternate look (given that it doesn't suddenly look like absolute "shi_t" compared to 2.0). I'm getting burned myself by predators, but oh well, not like recovering the money spent on 3-4 figures will make me any richer or poorer...
