Hey guys..did hot toys update the sculpt? I just recieved a new head and this one almost has none of the guyliner. He does have more shadow beneath his eyes (he didn't get a lot of sleep :p)

So I got my hands on an Enzio body for a decent price and ported Indy over to it. Makes one hell of a difference! If HT gave this release the Enzio body and a better sculpt I really think Indy would be getting the same amout of love that Superman and Sparrow are getting. Too bad I needed to spend an extra 50 bucks to get somewhat close to that level. :(

That's a great shot Deak. Nice to see a 'clean' Indy again.
:clap

Wish I had your skills Rory, your Indy is awesome.

Glad you posted, that's a great shot Deak.

Thanks PC. :duff

My other Indy is on an Ezio body (which I originally bought for my SSC Indy). I'll post pics of my regular Indy.

I've never posted an Indy pic in here, better late than never. :lol

One of the best pics of Indy I've seen. I think he almost looks better without the jacket.

I just opened up Indy and I must say it is much better in person. Thankfully I don't display photos of products, so I could care less about what it looks like in images. It looks great in my Detolf where it will stay for quite a while.

In a perfect world... but I would sloppily untuck the shirt, give him some body odor and smack that stupid scowl off his face....

The only reason people _____ about this sculpt is because Indy doesn't make that face, heck if he isn't smiling he's got that dumb scared look on his face - this mean face - where does it come from?

I'm dying to paint mine but i know I will just devalue the crap out of it...

Got Indy today. Pretty damn nice figure overall. Likeness is alright its not spot on but its not god awful either. The figure though itself really comes in as worth the money.

Glad people are slowly joining up. It's really not such a bad figure. Time will tell, if they make another more accurate version then this may seem 'terrible', but if not...

Josh, want to see those outside, crisp pics! :clap

I guess he's not so bad...

I just can't think about how much this guy costs. Despite all the shortcomings, including the undeniably inaccurate sculpt, it's a decent figure. I still have some real problems with HT's choice to use the muscle body which restricts his elbow articulation and makes his clothes way too tight, and the oversized collar on his shirt. And I'm not loving the braided whip. The scale bothers me and I know someone mentioned that it was becoming unraveled with use. I'm keeping mine coiled and using the SS whip when it's unfurled.

*sigh* If only the sculpt (or paint apps) were better. I think it bothers me more that they were on the right track to coming so close and yet ended up missing it by a mile.

Thanks Deak! :wave

Here are some comparison pics with my Sideshow Indy:

Like I've said before, I love my SS Indy. I modded it up to a point where I was 100% happy with him, changing the body to a Pro 1.2, touching up the paint apps, and giving him some HT relaxed hands.

But once I put him side by side with the HT Indy, you really see what a finer product HT made. The HT figure has very solid and well-made details, but the details look pretty toy-like on the SS. And the scale of the SS head really looks huge for the body when compared to the proportions on the HT--something that I never noticed before. The sculpt is better on the Sideshow figure, but the materials and finish make it look toyish. It's like I have an accurately sculpted mannequin in the SS version standing next to a real person (not HF) dressed up as Indy.

Great pics Lou, and I agree completely with you on your general critique of the set. Looks good in your pics though!:clap

Thanks guys!

Wor-Gar, funny you should ask. The other one on the shelf is the KOTCS Indy. But talking about how toyish the Sideshow figure looks in comparison, made me dig up another Indy:

:lol Good collection :clap

I think sometimes people get overly obsessed with "the perfect figure" instead of simply enjoying a 'version' of Indy in the context of time and space -- all of this will seem 'old' some day. That's the beauty. That's what vintage is, that's what nostalgia is.

Thanks, Wor. It's also easy to forget just how good Sideshow and HT are really, despite any shortcomings and misses, when you compare it to mainstream toys that were our only choices not 10 years ago.
