Sorry to quote such an old post.

Is this stock right here? Doesn't look bad. Agreed on the SS version though. With a great repaint the sculpt shines but the the stock figure and it's accessories were junk.

I have both, and the SSC accessories are not junk. Well, the white shirt and gloved hands are, but nothing else.

The HT stuff is superior pretty much across the board, but it has its problems too. The whip is over scale and fragile, the holster and gunbelt are completely wrong (and black, not brown.) The web belt is dark brown when it should be tan, and the gloved hands look like oven mitts. The shirt and jacket both have collars that must be tamed.

I've noticed that people that buy the HT fig tend to go through a "that SSC fig is such junk!" rant period to feel better about the somewhat middling HT figure, but it really isn't warranted. Both figures have pluses and minuses, though the HT one is definitely a step up, especially in the "straight out of the box" stakes.

Your Indy gunbelt and holster are black? Mine's brown, more of a Temple of Doom color and shape, but definitely brown.

No, I hear ya. I never cared for the SS figure. Like I said the sculpt shines when repainted and has a closer resemblence to Ford but this is just the better deal. I'm happy with what I paid. I can live with it. I'm going to do some mods to it anyway.

Here's a pic I took a few months back of the custom holster I built and the HT one. Looks black in the pic and in most pics. Don't think I've seen a pic where it looks brown. Maybe it's just one of those really really dark browns.

And the HT Indy release was clearly supposed to be Raiders, not TOD.

I'd still love for HT to release a Temple of Doom Indy and improve any downfalls or sculpt inaccuracies of the first figure. I doubt they will do another Indy though since it doesn't look like he sold well.

Don't know if I'd buy a TOD Indy. If they do release one I hope it's got two sculpts. One clean and one BD with a real likeness so I can pick up the clean one for this.

It is possible HT will do a TOD Indy. At SDCC 2012, Sideshow said they are still working on the Short Round figure - i.e. not a whole lot to get excited about, but they were directly asked the question, and they could have just said "cancelled" but they didn't.

They would never release a Short Round (and the previously teased mine cart environment) without a HT TOD Indy to go with it.

Well, given that, it could be SS that will do a TOD Indy.

Doubtful. On the ROTLA release, HT did the "anchor" figure and SSC did the backdrop - Tanis Room Environment (which the arab robes were designed to accompany.)

For TOD, HT would likely do the "anchor" DX figure and SSC would do Mine Cart and small figure addition of Shorty.

Also, the clothes for the ROTLA Indy were tailored for the muscle body (which isn't screen accurate for ROTLA - only for TOD) so all the clothes can be easily ported over to the new release.

All HT would need is a new head (or heads), machete, stones etc. and maybe an alternate outfit - tuxedo.

Mine doesn't have the "guyliner", or at least in hand it doesn't. In pics, with or without flash, there is the appearance of "guyliner" that, looking at him on the shelf, I just don't see. I've seen some pics, like Watermelon's, where the "guyliner" seems REALLY pronounced.

Weird, mine is definitely a dark brown:

That's a pretty great looking custom holster you made by the way. One of these days I hope to get around to replacing mine.

You can see the "guyliner" depending on how the light hits Indy. I see it on mine most of the time. It's not so much that there is dark paint around the eyes (there is, though). It's the way the PERS sits in the sockets and how light affects the eyballs and skin materials differently. The eyes are almost translucent and lave a luminous reflective quality (like real eyes, I suppose), while the skin is more dense and has some translucency of its own, while being matte. It's a bit hard to explain. But the way the light catches, it makes the differences in materials really contrast, which creates a very hard, defined edge. It IS less evident in real life, but it's definitely there.

Yeah man, that Enzio body really makes a difference. I think getting the hat to sit right on Indy's head, like in your pic, makes a hell of a difference too.

Yeah, I've been looking and can't find one. And some of the prices I've heard it going for.....:cuckoo:

Hmm, lokks like I'll have to remedy that. Someone said they took the PERS stuff out and went over the guyliner with non-acetone nail polish and a toothpick. Said it came right off. I think I 'll try that first.

Why does he look amazing right here? I mean aside from the fantastic posing the sculpt looks good here and quite different from the others. Yeah I know lighting and the such but still...

Sorry to bring up old stuff up but the figure is gonna be new to me.

I only started collecting Hot Toys this year, and DX05 Indy was one of the first figures I got. All I can say is I think it is bloody awesome. Sure the headsculpt from some angles may not be 100%, but as an overall DX package, it is one of the very best. I would not have passed this up.
