Films.... Was it ever really confirmed that the Marvel Licence was for Comic versions? Seemed like it was just movie based to me.

Eddie Wong translated this back in 2009

...hm...I dont like the film versions for any of these characters...but we'll see...

edit: what I mean is the suit looks way to boring...

There were rumors of HT getting a comic license, but I don't think they were ever more than that. HT seems more comfortable doing actual human beings (or doing actual human beings in physical suits) as toys than purely fictional creations.

That's what I'm saying as well. The movie stuff overall for the X-men is too generic. Black costume, different head sculpt...blah. I doubt I would buy ANY of the X-men, female or male, if we only get movie versions. Possibly a Colossus, I suppose that would look pretty cool. Even Wolverine because personally I would take the Origins movie version over a black costumed version.

Thanks Dino!

I have to admit, I'm not sure I'd want any of the heroines that we've been mentioning.

I can't find the thread but there was an article that addressed the comic versions. Not sure the rank of the official from Hot Toys that was quoted in it but it appeared here somewhere.

Going from memory, it said something about that they COULD do comic versions of the characters but that they had too many movie figures left to address so it would be some time in the future...far future it sounded like. I'll keep looking and see if I can find it.

I'd pickup a Storm, Mystique or Whistler. Not sure any of the others movie version would be anything that would interest me.

Depending on who plays them and if they are included in the Thor movie, an Enchantress or Hela would be interesting down the road.

Q: Moving on to the Marvel license: does the current license only cover Marvel characters as released in the movies?

Howard: Yes, when we discussed this with Marvel that was the plan. Having said that we are aware of the various possibilities with Marvel characters whether they are in the movies, animation, comics or video games, and definitely Hot Toys would like to explore further the opportunities to make popular figures from the Marvel line.

But we only started with Wolverine Origins and Blade; there are still many Marvel movie characters that we can produce before we even start thinking of doing those in the comics or other properties. We are still catching up!

Well I found it but I was wrong with what I was recalling from memory. Sounds like it's not out of the question but that it is being limited to movie figures only currently.

That said, I don't see why Marvel wouldn't allow it right? Does someone else currently hold a license for 1/6 Marvel figures based on the comics, etc?

Honestly, I'd like to get Spider-Man already.

Yeah you'd think maybe they would want to get him out before the new reboot Spidey comes out.

Sure he will be well worth the wait.

Anyways, FAR more pressing matters firstly; namely Christopher Reeve Superman.

:exactly:

You know I'm not a huge Supe's fan personally but I'm really excited to see and purchase this figure. Just received the DX 02 this last week and would love to have an iconic Superman to go with him.

So we'll probably get Green Lantern from the new film....how are we going to complete our Justice League's though? Maybe a Linda Carter Wonder Woman? :lol Hell I'd take that over most of the Marvel Heroine's they are teasing currently.

It wasn't officially announce but the pics hinted Ghost Rider may be next which would been great instead my money is on Sue Richards :monkey4
