You're denying yourself one of the best figures ever made

:goodpost:

I am not a huge Blade fan moreso a Marvel fan. I purchased Blade since it was a Marvel film and it truly is a great figure. Blade and Wolverine easily two of my favorite collectibles not simply because of appearance but the multitude of poses looks that can be created.

Well I can't speak to the quality of Spectre, and I understand that Biel is more recognizable than whats-her-face as an actress, but I'm not sure we have much to go on in terms of estimating HT's success selling "sexy" toys. It is obviously a cash cow for Sideshow, but that success may not translate to HT figures.

Beyond Spectre, I've seen the Machiko Predator available for sub-$100 on several occasions, Sheva seems to be the least popular of the Res. Evil figures, and the Silken Floss wasn't really released in large enough numbers for us to gauge that figure's popularity (not sure what other "sexy" toys HT has released recently). I suppose Black Widow may give us a better impression, but both that character and actress are about 100X more recognizable than Whistler's daughter/Biel, IMO. I'm sure the figure will look very good, but if they hope to move toys based on the "sexyness" of the figure alone, along with the fact that she comes with a cross-bow (I guess), then it does not seem like a big hit in the making to me.

Also, the Blade figure kicks ass. No dispute. If you don't get that toy, then that's your bad.

IMO HT will struggle selling female verions of any character unless they limit the amount avalable. I do not believe there is a HUGE demand for female character's moreso a small nitch. The nitch is only for certain iconic character's such as Sarah Connor.

Personally collecting a female character is meh and to date, I don't have a burning desire for any female character to be made (or collect any announced).

In addition, I find HT female character's craftmanship "off" or not on par with the male / robot versions. SC and BW are improvements but both have faults which to me isn't worth $150+. Eventually, their female figures will become more impressive and worth a look (to me) but for now I'll wait and see.

It all depends on the female character for me. If Hot Toy made Selene from Underworld, The Bride, Elle Driver and Go-go from Kill Bill and Alice from all 4 Resident Evil movies I would pre-order them without even seeing them first. Beyond those girls though there isn't much that would interest me and I will not buy a figure simply because it's a "hot chick"

I prefer the real thing (when I can get them :p) and personally think the sideshow statues are perverted. I guarantee you the guys that buy them put them in the closet when they bring a girl home...or their mothers. :lol

You're denying yourself one of the best figures ever made because of an incorrect perception? I've go mine next to the T-800 and he look's just fine.

:goodpost: Interesting...I need to look into this Blade figure. I just think he looks kind of puny in 1/6 form. Maybe I can pad him up lol.

Remember that a female figure doesn't have to be a "sexy toy" It's just another character like any other male character that just happens to be female. Most of us are not so hormonally out of control that we see these toys as any kind of sex object.

I think you guys are getting at a good point. A female character is a good idea if it is a popular character that just so happens to be a female--The Bride from Kill Bill, and updated Ripley, Jill Valentine, Wonder Woman, Black Widow even. But to release a female character just because she is "sexy" might not be the best move. We will see. But like Badism, I don't collect dollies because they are "sexy." I prefer actual human beings for that. I buy toys, in the vast majority of cases, because they are characters I like. Unfortunately, females aren't always written to be good characters in films, TV, comics, etc. So, we have a disproportionate number of male figures that are more desirable as collectibles to folks like myself.

:exactly: I used to collect some "sexy" figures back in college but I've sold all of them.

Although, woman are trouble to this hobby in general though, sexy figures or not. My fiance doesn't know about my hot toy collection and she will gawk at me if she knew how much they cost me. I envy you guys who have wives or girlfriends that collect...

You cant deny that king leo is one sexy figure!:rolleyes2

I'm sure that some think that he is. And probably buy him for that purpose. . .

You can't deny that Sideshow releases so many female characters because collectors like buying statues with huge ****s and curvy bodies. I've never understood that, but that is definitely part of the appeal for some.

I don't buy them but they appeal to me much :lol. Its more of a practical thing for me not to buy them though, because at some point they will not look OK to have in the house. Just my opinion. But I support people who buy them, because they look very nice.

True. It's not that i don't like Sideshow's (perverted) statues, it's that I could never, ever display them. The people coming into my house would never understand and it would change their perceptions of me and quite frankley ruin my life.

As for hot toys figures. I know what you said about chicks is true, it's just reality, but I often wonder why...why is it a problem? What should I spend my hard earned money on? Sports car? Fancy hair cut? Expesive shoes? Are those the adult, non geeky things to waste money on?

I once had a friend who was a $60 a day pot smoker. He told me I was wasting my money on action figures. I just don't understand the irrationality of the human race.

I found this:

:exactly::exactly::goodpost::goodpost:

When I started collecting, it was around my birthday and out of glee of getting the dx bats I emailed a few of my buddies and got the response,

"your a grown man go spend your money on beer and prostitutes."

Lets just say that was quite a kill-joy remark. And the fact was I am engaged and he is single. But I guess it was a macho statement. Some people assume collecting figures is anything different then say collecting tons of movie DVDs or books that they read once and just let sit on the shelves collecting dust, or collecting anything in general.

I love those insecure people who go around calling your figures "dollies" when secretly, they're impressed. Why do you keep staring at my "dollies" if you think they're a waste of money??
