It was assumed that Dutch led a special ops team into the Jungle. If that's the case how in the hell is Billy a Private? Guys in those units are noncommissioned officers (sergeant and above) at a minimum.

My problem isn't so much the cost for repainting although that is a factor. But some of the best painter's here, DA being one of em, are so busy with life, love and other commissions, that it could take up to almost a year to get this thing painted and added to the collection. If you buy the fig in two weeks, get it in 5-6 months, it could take you another 6-10 months for a repaint. Hell, I've got 3 commissions out right now that have been out there for almost 8 months now. If that's the case, it could be 2010 before you finally add Billy to the collection.

Just wish HT could have done it right from the start.

Other than that, they look great.

Yeah, I know what you mean there, the wait can be a little killer sometimes. I have some heads that I sent out about 8 months ago. So price as well as turn around can certainly a factor.

If Hot Toys just slops paint on to cover likenesses, that is awesome! Hopefully we get a chance to see a Carl Weathers...just paint him caucasian.

The Predator is the only figure I see as a "must have" for this line. Dutch and Billy could use some work. Those two are just begging for customizing.

I don't blame HTs, I'm sure they tried but the asking price was probably too high. Add in the fact that this fig will be the lowest seller of the bunch, and I'm sure it didn't cost out. This is assuming SL was willing to allow it but just wanted more than HT was willing to fork over.

I missed out on the Colonial Marines, so I intend on getting the pred 1 bunch. I just hope they do em all, or most of em and I can justify having the repaints done or be able to do a satisfactory job myself.

Unfortunately, at current prices, unless the other troops are already in progress, and maybe still even with that, HT will probably judget releasing others based on Billy's sales. Dutch and the Predator should sell like crazy, but if Billy looks poor in their eyes, they'll probably judge that as a sign of how Mac, Blane, Hawkins, Poncho and Dillon would do and they may say screw it, we had our success, the majority got what they wanted cuz they bought Dutch and the Predator, let's move on.

I don't think you'll have to say much to get this board to support it, but it's an ugly cycle.

HT's making Billy and probably going to judge selling other characters based on his sales, but HT's notorious for not making such characters so people are hesitant to buy Billy given how much he'll cost without assurance HT will complete the team, so if no one buys Billy because the impression is that these three are it, HT will think there's no support and move on. Unfortunately, HT doesn't really care what hardcores think and go by the numbers, so they're not going to act in a way to be conscious of it's fan base and cater to that, they're going to do things their usual way, have their success and move on. They make a great product, but with their character choices and all sometimes, I really wonder if they have any clue about fans of the properties and such.

I don't know though, maybe my view is limited because of views on this board, but to me it seems like other versions of Will and Elizabeth from POTC, and more so the character of Barbossa, would have done much better with fans than the versions of Will and Elizabeth they made, but things went as they did. Rocky started out with Rocky vs. Clubber lang when the most important relationship in that franchise was Apollo and Rocky and they never represented that in that line.

but that may be more due to licensing. That seems to be the hardest hurdle for HT. when they don't get it they seem to approach it as, "well, can't get it but let's put something out. It'll sell." Even though they would love to do a line like most of us fans would like to see it be done.

Some of these are popping up on eBay already and people saying "in hand" is that possible or just bullflop?

I emailed the ebay seller who has these listed and they replied back that they would ship Feb - March. Seems a bit early though that is what they told me.

I think I am going to wait untik HK ebay sellers have these in stock.

I think, because the pre-order to release dates are so far out from what ebay requires, that sellers need to fudge their predicted dates to what they might know to be the actual dates, just to cover their butts.

They'll likely have some set backs and be a month or so late in any case. Hopefully to improve Dutch's neck and hair style, and the Pred's bio, for starters. Pretty good job by Hot Toys. Let's see if they are able to make some small changes while we wait.

i'm not digging the feathered hair on dutch, but the likeness is great. and what is up with billy? he doesnt have blonde hair. i havent picked up any of the predators but will definitely get this one for sure. badass

Just got back from spending Xmas with the family to find not 1, but 8 newsletters in my mailbox Guess they figured this was kickass enough to send a few extra copies!

Really digging the Predator... Billy not so much and Dutch I'm a bit on the fence over. He almost doesn't look bulky enough. But, I'll still pre-order him.
