There's a strap from his vest and hole in the navel, but I think all HT muscle bodies have a hole in the navel.

Oh, ok. It looked like some sort of joint there, but it's just the strap giving the illusion of being a shadow.

I can afford both so....whatevah. They still screwed up the blades. But that seriously will NOT stop me from buying it. FIGURE OF 2009!!!!!
heh, yeah. i can b1tch about my elder p2 on here. even though it's still my favorite 1/6th figure.
complaining about accuracy has nothing to do with whether or not i can afford something.
i complained about the aliens marines even when they were $60. i still think they're just awful.

But you b1tch about everything... :monkey3

just trying to figure out what to get now :slap Predator diorama or dutch or the 1/6 predator

Ya know...for once...I'm going to have to agree with you.

What the hell?!?! How'd they get the blades wrong? :duh

What he means is, the blades are missing the strip of metal that runs under both of them. You see this when they're fully extended.
And they're definately not as curved in the movie as they are on the HT fig.

The Cinemaquette Pred got it pretty close to accurate (last pic).

First post here, been reading up on a few things for the last month or so. Wanted to comment on this discussion. Technically, while it would be movie accurate to include the rods underneath, that's actually a bit of the mechanics used to extend them by Stan Winston and not a feature shown in other forms of Predator media like games, comics etc. What you're seeing are the air cylinders used by the crew to extend the blades. That was the only way of doing it without sacrificing the look of them. Hell, in most of the movie, they aren't even present as the static unit is used. And it would be impossible to have them on there when the blades trap Dutch's head on the log.

Honestly I think it's more accurate to leave them off the figure myself.

While the dio is great and has some advantages to be a solid sculpture, the 1/6 offers much more detail and all. If I had to pick just one I'd suggest the figure.

They didn't get them wrong persay. HT, like anyone, likes to recycle. I'm guessing the blades are the exact same ones from the P2 figure and likewise Wolf has the same ones I think.

anybody have a screen cap lying around?

No, but I can tell you the blades are spread out almost like a "Y" to go around Dutch's neck because the standard spacing isn't wide enough. Movie magic, you're supposed to be so caught up in the action and just shocked what happened rather than notice the blades are doing something abnormal.

Gimme ten minutes. They actually come out halfway, make a 45 and then another 45, effectively doubling the spacing.

i think the dutch piece is pretty damn dead on as far as arnolds likeness goes and i am glad they finally decided to make human joints without the classic "figurine joints" visible at the back of the elbows anymore. the pred is the best HT pred to come out to date, billy i could care less bout really, but as someone that dropped the pred HT line with all of the others except a couple, i think i might have to get the 2..........:monkey3

It made them the coolest looking blades in the series.

Irregardless, I wouldn't shun Hot Toys for leaving it off. That type of detail can go either way.

On an unrelated note, I've been looking close at the helmet images and I don't think the cracks are as deep as they seem. I'm starting to think the paint wash is making them look much more pronounced than they really are.

I'm not worries about the dings. HT protos tend to have deeper gauges and things, probably for the molding process so that the production units come out appropriate. The dings are hardly noticeable on the 1/4 bust.
