these sculpts are bad ass but i hope they tone down the paint job they are way way way to high contrast i would like to see some skin color show through from under the also whats up with the hair on billy and arnold they got there hair colors switched. since when has billy been so light haired and arnold so dark?
Billy's paint apps are a Hot Toys tactic when they don't have likeness rights to a face, they choose/have to cover up the portrait in paint apps that obscure the underlying portrait.
Well, the lesson came with the ALIENS figures.
Drake was painted iwth red hair and a fake mustache that when painted away, he looked just like the actor. Ripley, while not perfect, is overly femmed from Hot Toys but with a solid repaint can look close to Sigourney Weaver. Hot Toys Terminator looks nothing like what's seen on screen because they had to extend the damage to the face so much there was zero of Arnie in it.
Even Dutch was original painted with horrible camo and apps and if it weren't for his very defining features, probably wouldn't have looked a bit like Arnold, but the mouth and cheeks give it away. HT either has always tried to get his likeness rights or was aware of all the grief about his likeness not being clear from the early leaked images and got the rights, either way, they finally secured the rights to do Arnie's portrait without tricks.

I'm definitely thinking of making my very own "mud" Dutch. That would be a fun custom to attempt... since you wouldn't have to sculpt a very clean body. Just build up the basic shapes and sculpted mud on top of it. Mess up his hair a bit, a custom Bow and spear... BOO-YAH!

Now the only question is, will Sideshow have an exclusive version.
Really looking forward to these figures. I'm also hoping that HT will announce something "Alien" for the anniversary of the film.
